Summary/Objective

This role will further support Park Lawn by contributing to risk management, including claims management, insurance policy oversight and renewals, and health and safety compliance and training.

Summary/Objective
The Senior Legal Counsel will be a key member of Park Lawn's Legal and Risk Management teams. This role will support Park Lawn's operations by effectively managing a wide variety of legal issues including, without limitation, day-to-day operational issues; customer, regulatory and litigation complaints; commercial transactions; corporate compliance; and employment-related issues. This role will further support Park Lawn by contributing to risk management, including claims management, insurance policy oversight and renewals, and health and safety compliance and training.
Essential Functions
- Advise the company and internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters including litigation, intellectual property, regulatory, employment, compliance, commercial transactions, and general corporate matters.
- Liaise and provide resources to internal stakeholders with respect to general operational matters.
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to draft and implement operational policies and procedures that support innovation and growth.
- Assist with the management of litigation and claims, both for the Legal team and the Risk Management team.
- Assist with the management of employee relations related matters.
- Research and report on legal trends related to the death-care industry.
- Oversee Park Lawn's Health and Safety programs, including reviewing and helping to roll-out training and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree and J.D. bar member in good standing
- Minimum of five years of in-house experience in a similar role for a national or international company or a minimum of ten years of applicable experience with a reputable law firm.
- Preferred death-care industry experience.
- Valid state issued driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
- Working understanding of insurance policies and coverage.
- Experience interpreting state and federal statutes and regulations and analyzing their impact on current policy and business practices.
- Self-motivated with a strong degree of initiative.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with a variety of personalities at all levels within the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
- Detail oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Ability to meet daily deadlines and perform tasks in a timely manner.
