Description:

Amazon Global Engineering Services is seeking a Senior Manager to lead capital planning, project management, and change management initiatives across Amazon's existing Retail Fulfillment and Logistics ecosystem. This role will be pivotal in driving rapid growth, operational excellence, and effective change implementation at scale.

You will be responsible for leading a team that develops thoughtful program strategies, while also directly managing hands-on execution for the portfolio of projects supported. The ideal candidate has experience managing teams, is comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of balancing competing priorities. A successful candidate will implement scalable process improvements, influence large cross-functional teams and leaders, and leverage data to drive business decision making.

Key job responsibilities

Capital Planning and Project Management:
\tManage and support multiple Amazon business units, including Global Customer Fulfillment, Global Air Program, Global Transportation, Amazon Logistics, Emerging Markets, PillPack, Merch by Amazon, Sort Center Network, and strategic initiatives.
\tDevelop estimates, assumptions, schedules, cash flow forecasts, track budgets, and manage execution plans for existing network facility expansions, retrofits, and new technology initiatives.
\tEnsure adequate project funding is secured, enabling on-time and under-budget project execution.
\tManage funding milestones and schedule dependencies.
\tCollaborate with cross-functional teams to align project planning, financial entitlement, and effective investment decision-making.

Engineering Change Management:
\tLead change management initiative approvals to optimize Amazon's legacy network.
\tGarner support and adoption of program and process changes that drive Safety, Operational Efficiency, Technology Deployment, among others.
\tReview new change requests from corporate (network level) and operations (site level) stakeholders and provide feedback and guidance to ensure the optimal decision is made for the business at-large.
\tBuild and maintain a team of subject matter experts across various disciplines.
\tIdentify and address customer and business pain points through lean/agile methodologies and other improvement techniques.
\tLead and implement scalable process improvement projects within the team and across the organization.

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
\tPartner and actively manage competing priorities across all functions within the Engineering Services organization (including Finance, Program Management Office, Supply Chain Capacity, Startup, Launch, Real Estate, Construction, Operations Engineering, Procurement, Safety, Sustainability, People Experience Technology (PXT), among several others).
\tEducate upstream and downstream partners of inter-dependencies, influence without authority, and hold teams accountable to ensure high-quality delivery with minimal defects in project approval, deployment and execution.

About the team

The REI Capital Projects Team is embedded within the Global Engineering Services organization, and is responsible for directly overseeing all Legacy Network Retrofits, Expansions and Initiatives across North America. Our team manages end-to-end controllership of Operational Changes and Capital Investments within our Existing Retail Network. These changes will focus on large-scale initiatives with extensive investment-including physical, structural, interior and exterior site modifications, mechanical equipment and technology, and, innovation and sustainability deployments-that drive excellence in Safety, Compliance, Operational Efficiency, and Associate Experience for Amazon.com's growing Retail network.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree

- 7+ years of team management experience

- 10+ years of program or project management experience

- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations

- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
