The Well Service Rig Manager: Levels 1 - 4 is responsible for safely running an operation professionally, possibly on multiple rigs. This position requires a high level of knowledge and skills to operate a safe, efficient and reputable operation. Responsibilities include managing cost, rig performance, effective leadership of rig personnel, and maintaining Ensign's reputation.

Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Works in a safe, healthy and environmentally protective manner
- Presents a positive attitude, always being a good mentor, coach and leader
- Prevents incidents, by making safety a priority, developing a safety culture on the rig, observing and modifying any at-risk behavior or equipment
- Knows rig capabilities and limitations, regularly assessing and inspecting the rig and its performance
- Communicates well, takes time to teach each person, shares knowledge and skills, uses positive reinforcement and enforces personal accountability
- Reports all incidents, e.g. environmental, near misses and rig / equipment problems
- Maintains relationships with rig personnel, immediate supervisors, company representatives, 3rd parties and the community with honesty, integrity, dignity and respect
- Demonstrates the ability to check and adjust Taylor low inertia clutches
- Performs and delivers accurate rig inspections in a consistent and timely manner
- Verifies that a basic level of maintenance of on-site equipment is being performed
- Exercises clear and concise reporting of injuries and incidents related to or that may result in additional mechanical failures
- Demonstrates a basic mechanical understanding of draw works brakes, and the confidence to instruct on the proper installation, adjustment, and recording of such
- Demonstrates a fundamental understanding of the various drill line installations and the ability and confidence to properly install and or replace
- Keeps current on required classes
- Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
- Participates, trains and takes a leadership role in all safety programs, processes and requirements
- Attends Operations Training every year and up to five days per training at designated locations
- Performs other duties as directed by management
- Level 1:
- Knows the limitations of all equipment on location, e.g. draw works, derrick, clutches handling equipment, BOP's, power swivels, rod equipment, tongs, casing tongs, pumps
- Performs complex math calculations
- Understands all well service procedures related to operations and down hole situations
- Level 2:
- Understands and is proficient in all WS Rig Manager: Level 1 duties
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of down hole technical data and the math calculations associated with the well servicing operation.
- Demonstrates ability to manage location and crew members effectively and present a clean work image

- Level 3:
- Understands and is proficient in all WS Rig Manager: Level 1 & 2 duties
- Knows the limitations, capabilities and has a broad understanding of all types of equipment in the Ensign Well Services fleet, e.g. drawworks, derrick, clutches handling equipment, BOP's, annular, power swivels, tongs, rod equipment, casing tongs, pumps, slips
- Demonstrates assertive problem solving by identifying the proper resources, when seeking equipment operating procedures, adjustments and capabilities
- Demonstrates knowledge and confidence to give pertinent input concerning all well servicing operations
- Mentors WS Rig Manager: Levels 1 & 2
- Level 4:
- Understands and is proficient in all WS Rig Manager: Level 1 - 3 duties
- Demonstrates leadership & assertiveness and applies proactive approaches with management and team members.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all the principles of the essential functions and core competencies
- Understands and is capable of moving to entry level Field Superintendent & District management functions such as P & L scenarios & cost associated to running a business.
- Mentors WS Rig Manager: Levels 1 - 3
Technical Competencies
- Understands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materials
- Understands all major rig components and the necessary servicing
- Demonstrates proficiency at using current software and willing to communicate professionally via email

Education and Experience
- Understands all well service operations
- Understands and is knowledgeable of down hole situations
- Performs complex math calculations
- High School diploma or GED is preferred
Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Pass a post-offer physical examination, fitness testing, safety aptitude test, drug tests & background check
- Provide proof and maintain proper legal authorization to work in the United States
- Arrange for reliable transportation to and from work and training locations
- Speak and read English well enough to understand verbal and written safety postings, alerts and announcements, communicate with co-workers and be able to participate in job safety analysis meetings
- Possess a valid CDL License and meet Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive
