What this job involves - We are seeking a Research Manager to build and lead the newly established Business Insights & Analytics team within Amazon's Global Realty organization. Our Consulting practice combines long-term real estate strategy with practical implementation. As a result, we deliver creative, cost-effective solutions that not only look good on paper, they work in practice - helping our clients achieve lasting competitive advantage.
This role represents an opportunity to lead the development of a bespoke research program dedicated to one of the world's most influential users of Industrial real estate. The Research Manager will be responsible for creating the framework for the Global Realty and JLL Research partnership, and will serve as a trusted thought leader and strategic partner by providing data-driven recommendations and industry-based solutions that align with Amazon's long-term strategic objectives. This role will oversee the development and implementation of market demand analysis methodologies, ensuring that demographic trends, economic indicators, and regional growth patterns are incorporated into various research deliverables (both predefined and ad hoc). This position requires extensive industry expertise, and strong relationship building and management skills. Since frequent client presentations will be an integral component of the research program, the individual in this role will require strong executive communication and presentation skills.
Role is to be based in one of the clients primary hub locations: Seattle/Bellevue, Washington DC, Austin, NY, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles.

What is the day to day?
- Implement and manage the overall research plan to align with both the client's strategic objectives as well as best-in-class research strategies developed by JLL Research
- Collaborate at a high level with senior leadership to execute the research plan
- Maintain intimate and extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting industrial sector and client's business and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge to drive strategic decision making
- Share and integrate research findings on the topics of industrial sector trends, including market analytics and site selection, infrastructure and transportation networks, development sector dynamics, and emerging industrial regions.
- Develop strong relationships with external clients and the internal JLL network to facilitate the use of research as a differentiator by consistently adding value to client meetings, providing insight on market history, trends, and data.
- Research key drivers for industrial space occupiers/tenants, investors, developers and other market players to develop, enhance and leverage detailed knowledge and expertise of the local economies and real estate markets
- Collect and manage statistical real estate metrics relevant to the client
- Adopt a "player coach" mentality and manage and develop on-account Research analyst
- This role adheres to the client's in-office work policy, requiring employees to work from the office five days per week to foster collaboration, innovation, and culture. The global nature of this role will require virtual collaboration across time zones.
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required
- Bachelors degree in business, economics, or related field desired
- 10+ years in commercial real estate research or closely related field, with experience within the industrial sector a plus
- Proactive and strategic thinking and ability to lead research initiatives, align research with the business, and innovate research output
- Command of local markets and business, with good understanding of macro trends and historical perspective
- Dynamic presentation skills and experience presenting insightful content to clients
- High-level analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Ability to multi-task, resilient and can effectively manage time and workload
- Management experience and ability to lead a team and program
- Ability to lead research initiatives in alignment with business and marketing objectives
- Desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment
Estimated total compensation for this position:
