Position Summary
The Resource Nurse is a leadership role responsible for the day to day coordination of patient care and related activities for the unit(s) / patient care area(s) ensuring the best quality of care for the patients. This individual acts as a resource and role model for all clinical staff and works collaboratively with the Program Manager of the Children's Services to provide leadership congruent with the vision, mission, values and strategic objectives of the Hospital. The Resource Nurse fosters partnerships between patients, families, team members, and external stakeholders to promote safe, effective, evidence-based, and high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications
Education:
Current College of Nurses of Ontario registration as Registered Nurse.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is preferred, with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related health field being highly desirable.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
Perinatal Intensive Care Course or equivalent.
S.T.A.B.L.E. or A.C.O.R.N. program certification preferred.
Evidence of completion of continuing education within the past 2 years.
Experience:
Current experience in intensive care PICU or NICU.
Five (5) years recent clinical experience required in Paediatric and/or Neonatal care experience is essential.
Team Leader/Resource Nurse/ Charge Nurse experience essential
Adult teaching experience essential.
Experience in interdisciplinary team leadership and with the principles of patient-focused model of care preferred.
Active participation in care team, unit council, and various leadership meetings.
