Position Overview

Under general direction of the Director of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Outreach and Student Onboarding plays a pivotal leadership role within the Enrollment Management department and is responsible for the operational oversight of Outreach and the Student Onboarding experience.

The Assistant Director leads the Outreach & Student Onboarding team in engaging prospective students and supporting them through the onboarding process and their transition to college and connection to the campus community. This position also provides supervisory support to the Enrollment Services team in collaboration with and in the absence of the Director of Enrollment Management.

The Assistant Director maintains effective collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Management and various departments across campus to develop and sustain strategic Outreach & Student Onboarding initiatives through a Guided Pathways framework. This includes management of the New Student Orientation and Placement.

Alongside the Outreach & Student Onboarding team, this position represents Cascadia College at various Outreach related events and establishes strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to K-12 districts, local community and technical colleges, community organizations, universities, and prospective students and their families.

This position represents the Enrollment Management department and College at meetings and workshops and serves as the main supervisory and budgetary contact for the department in the absence of the Director.

It is expected for the Assistant Director to demonstrate the following qualities consistently: a high degree of understanding and empathy for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, as well as the ability to encourage the inclusion of all voices in decision-making, promoting equity in all areas, and actively working against institutionalized norms of oppression against historically marginalized people.

Initial Salary: $80,255.20 (includes 5% King County Premium Pay)

Essential Duties

Outreach & Recruitment
  • Assist in developing and implementing a strategic and equitable Outreach and Recruitment plan
  • Oversee and assist with the coordination, planning, and successful implementation of Outreach & Recruitment related events both on and off campus including but not limited to; college fairs, community events, meetings, information sessions, campus tours, and other college events conferences
  • Represent the College and its mission within the various Outreach & Recruitment connections
  • Foster and sustain relationships with K-12 districts, local community and technical colleges, community organizations, universities, and prospective students and their families.
  • Supervise and provide ongoing training and development to Exempt and Classified full-time and part-time staff and student employees
  • Coordinates high impact student engagement experiences working in collaboration with external departments to increase enrollment and visibility of Cascadia College
  • Monitors recruitment initiatives and develops accurate applicant and inquiry reports on a regular basis to determine recruitment program effectiveness
  • Manage creation and updating of Outreach & Student Onboarding materials and webpages

Program Development - Student Onboarding
  • Develop, initiate, and track communication for prospective students and new applicants by utilizing the College's Customer Relations Management (CRM) software
  • Disseminate information about Cascadia College, its admissions requirements, and admissions procedures
  • Support prospective students through the admissions application process, ensuring streamlined communication and a smooth transition to New Student Orientation
  • Establish and manage a clear Placement process for students and staff, ensuring accuracy in Placement entry
  • Liaison with College personnel to ensure a smooth information flow and coordinate transition from recruitment to enrollment

Program Development - New Student Orientation
  • Coordinate and facilitate Cascadia's New Student Orientation sessions, including management of student communications and accuracy of information and presentation materials
  • Assist with the coordination of the quarterly Jumpstart Orientation program

General
  • Respond to email, phone, in-person or other inquiries and information requests as they relay to the college and the application process
  • Funnel individuals to advising, financial aid, enrollment services, and other College departments as necessary
  • Assist with monitoring the Outreach & Student Onboarding budget
  • Assist in the training of new personnel
  • Provide supervisory support to Enrollment Services in collaboration with and in the absence of the Director of Enrollment Management and/or provide backup support at the Enrollment
  • Services front counter as needed
  • Serve on campus wide committees as a representative of Enrollment Management

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Three years of admissions, outreach, recruitment, or related experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, telephone, email and communication skills
  • Computer knowledge with the ability to navigate through Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with computerized registration applications such as PeopleSoft
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and determine priorities
  • Ability to successfully communicate (written and orally) in a language in addition to English

Physical Work Environment

Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time employees are expected to be on-campus at least three (3) days per week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of their working days. Employees will need to provide their own remote workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. During on-campus operations, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.

Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.

This position involves exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
