Position Summary:

Responsible for providing engineering capability for process evaluation, optimization of refinery operations, project design, start-up, troubleshooting, and testing of units with limited supervision.

Strong knowledge and previous front-line experience in the following process technologies (FCC, Hydrotreating, Utilities, and Distillation).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

* Daily Monitoring which includes ensuring compliance with environmental permits, reliable operation and on-spec product, and searching for problems that could prevent the ability to maintain capacity. This activity includes 24/7 technical support to the process units as needed.

* Monitor unit catalyst performance and issue catalyst life projections; Evaluate new proposed catalyst systems and recommend and initiate procurement process for new catalyst.

* Perform engineering activities required to support facility design, configuration control and operation, following MOC processes.

* Provide optimum refinery performance that will meet CountryMark's safety, environmental, reliability, and economic objectives.

* Troubleshooting of pressure surveys, temperature surveys, identifying and correcting potential problems, determining need and frequency of exchanger cleaning and means of cleaning (during shut down or partial shutdown), economic impact of these shutdowns and technical support for operating conditions during partial shutdown).

* Assist with design analysis, modifications, resolution of technical issues and general engineering and technical support activities using basic and advanced engineering principles.

* Make recommendations to Operations on following safe work practices while maintaining quality, complying with environmental permits, ensuring reliable operation, making on-spec product, maintaining capacity, and increasing profitability.

* Perform technical and quality reviews of a limited array of engineering and technical products.

* As assigned, perform owner acceptance reviews of design packages developed by design agencies and design change requests issued by construction agencies.

* Apply sound engineering judgment in selecting and applying engineering methods with minimal direction from supervision or peers.

* Provide technical documentation to ensure knowledge retention and continuity within the organization.

* Participate in industry forums and trade association meetings to stay abreast of technological and other developments in assigned technical areas.

* Propose process and control improvements to reduce operating costs or improve margin capture.

* Support turnaround/maintenances activities such as: Catalyst unloading/loading supervision, chemical cleaning supervision, vessel inspection, shutdown/startup coverage, including revision/development of operating procedures, and recommendations for maintenance (exchanger cleaning, screen cleaning, etc.)

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):

* Engineering calculations- Size orifice plates, size control valves, size relief valves, size restriction orifices, calculate pressure drops, size piping for small projects, perform heat/material balances, size/rate heat exchangers, calculate fluid properties, determine system volumes/residence times.

* Mass/volume balance- Update spreadsheet for material balances, ensure orifice calculations reflect current operating conditions and are otherwise correct, calibrate or rearrange meters if necessary, and provide recommendations to correct mass/volume balance discrepancies.

* As required, perform equipment performance monitoring and analysis of equipment failures during facility operation.

* Operate within and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry codes and industry standards.

* Identify areas for performance and process improvements.

* Lead/participate in Process Hazards Analyses.

* Define and execute small (non-capital) projects, Assist groups with capital project design and installation.

* Provides support and leadership to multidiscipline teams addressing cross organizational issues.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent):

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or related field.

Experience: 3-8 years' experience in oil and gas industry.

Other:

* Understanding of advanced engineering principles and problem-solving techniques is required.

* Ability to take direction/lead and function as a team member to solve a variety of complex engineering problems.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform.

* Self-motivated and have the ability to work unsupervised.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

* Ability to excel in a fast-paced and diverse team environment with minimal supervision.

* Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.

* Aware of all safety, health, and environmental issues that impact the unit, the refinery and all personnel.

* Ability to present in writing and oral presentations the business case for proposed changes.
