Summary

The Vice President of Credit Relations and Loan Operations is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the credit relations and consumer loan servicing functions within the credit union. The VP will work to ensure effective loan servicing, recovery processes, and compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining a high level of member satisfaction. This role involves leading the department, optimizing operational efficiencies, implementing best practices, and collaborating cross-functionally to meet organizational goals.

Credit Relations Management
  • Oversee the credit union's collections operations, including member outreach, delinquency tracking, and recovery efforts for both consumer and business loans.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to collections.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce delinquency rates and improve recovery of charged-off loans.
  • Lead and mentor the Collections Manager to ensure optimal performance and team development.
  • Analyze collections data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with the credit risk department to identify emerging trends and assess risk exposure related to collections.

Loan Operations Management
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of loan servicing, ensuring efficient processing of lien releases, loan modifications, title releases, changes in loan terms, and tracking of required insurance.
  • Supervise the processing of loan modifications, extensions, and adjustments to loan terms, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with credit union policies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate release of liens and titles for paid-off loans, coordinating with relevant departments and third parties (e.g., DMV, title companies).
  • Develop and maintain processes for monitoring and tracking insurance coverage on collateralized loans, ensuring that coverage is valid and up to date to protect the credit union's interests.
  • Implement and maintain systems for tracking and recording changes in loan terms and ensuring proper documentation and communication with members.
  • Work closely with Loan Servicing Specialists to ensure accurate and compliant loan servicing transactions and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Review and ensure that all loan servicing documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Member Service

  • Assists in any other areas as directed by Senior Management and/or President/CEO.
  • Report all suspicious activity to the Risk Management department via the compliance group email

Supervisory
  • Responsible for the direct supervision, hiring, training, development, timecard, performance reviews, huddles, and one-on-one coaching meetings of department staff.
  • Mentor, coach and train employees in a psychological safe environment
  • Monitor and analyze staff performance including, quality of service, transaction volume, errors, and member wait time. Uses this information to make appropriate staffing and service recommendations.
  • Review and recommend process changes to increase efficiency and better serve the member
  • Participate in community and RGCU outreach/events
  • Act as a back up to staff when needed

Executive Management
  • Work with Senior Management to develop, implement, and manage department strategic plans, budget and policies in relation to the overall goals of the Credit Union
  • Correct and minimize findings from various internal and external audits and exams to maintain high compliance standards
  • Develop, implement, and manage department process improvements, service level standards, projects, risk assessments and departmental goals consistent with overall Credit Union strategic initiatives
  • Act as a primary liaison with third party vendors and assist with vendor management, including but not limited to, collecting due diligence, negotiating contracts and monitoring vendor performance and costs
  • Compile and report department metrics for Senior Management


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the Credit Relations Department and Consumer Loan Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Experience- 5 to 10 years related experience.

Education- 4-year college degree or specialized course of study OR 5 years related experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Symitar; Microsoft Office products.
