About the Opportunity
The Associate Scientific Director is responsible for developing high-quality and accurate scientific content based on comprehensive research of published literature, proprietary reports, scientific and marketing reports, and raw scientific data. The Associate Scientific Director role requires experience with strategic development, project vision creation, communication and publication planning, content, and quality management
Please note the following requirements for candidates applying for this position: Advanced Degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or MS) plus 3 or more years of experience in medical writing preferably within a medical communications agency. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in editorial and medical affairs and/or publications processes.
Job Description
The Associate Scientific Director has the ability to formulate research strategies for assessment of therapeutic, disease state, and product landscapes. Their proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data and articulating therapeutic, scientific, and product positioning enables them to develop product communication and publication plans on behalf of the Company and its clients. The Associate Scientific Director collaborates with clients to understand, develop, and transfer/direct project scope and vision to medical writers and other internal stakeholders.

The estimated salary for this position and similar roles Citrus may consider for applicants ranges from $110,000 to $140,000 per year. This is the approximate pay range that Citrus anticipates it will pay for this and similar positions at the time of this posting. Primary Responsibilities include:
- Landscape research for relevant publications/articles, press releases, proprietary data/market research on therapeutic area, disease, product, and competition
- Review, analyze and interpret all forms of information and data
- Identify relevant, reference material for communication plan/publication plan development
- Develop Gap and SWOT analyses
- Develop communication and publication plans
- Create project specific vision and complete Project Overview Forms
- Direct and edit clear, concise, and accurate content for outlines, slide decks, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
- Ensure process for fact checking statements and data QC are performed against source material, strategic imperatives, and references for accuracy and appropriate interpretation
- Identify, develop, and obtain resolution of queries for unclear or inaccurate information
- Develop meeting content outlines, presentation, and executive summaries for meetings
- Problem-solving application to client issues or individual project issues
- Establish and exhibit professional leadership through example to internal and external personnel
- Identify new business opportunities organically and externally
- Assist in the coordination and communication of project status with internal/external stakeholders
- Proactively provide all stakeholders with timely updates on project timelines and progress
- Professional and timely client, faculty, author, and team communications
- Organize workload and resourcing for efficient time- management
Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or MS) required
- 3+ years of experience in medical writing within a medical communications agency required
- Experience in editorial and publications processes required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Proficiency in scientific research
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Effective attention to detail and accuracy and ability to confirm writing to prescribed style format
- Ability to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome challenges
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
- Ability to think analytically and to effectively plan, prioritize, and execute
- Expert verbal and written communication skills
