Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Head of Legal, Compliance, and Contracts, you will be tasked with organizing and leading Metrea's global trade export, import, and customs operations. You will directly support the international growth objectives of Metrea and its assigned Business Groups and Business Units, with a particular focus on working with the LCC team to build a team, coordinating and collaborating the activities of retained export licensing consultants, Business Unit personnel responsible for the import and export of defense technology, and developing a standardized approach to Metrea's export, import and customs activities while at the same time proactively addressing shifting business needs and changing technology.
You also will work with export, import and customs legal counsel, both in-house and outside counsel, to ensure compliance with all regulations and laws that govern these activities. You will act as an empowered official, and you must have US export and import law and regulation expertise, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You will plan, organize, and implement day-to-day export and import transactions to achieve targeted results in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
This is a leadership role requiring a detailed knowledge of the specific laws and regulations coupled with personal skills to work with a wide range of people in order to achieve business objectives within a compliant environment.

Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and streamline export-related processes and procedures to meet the pace of business needs.
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing analysis of the legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate complex export activities in support of the U.S. Government, predominantly DoD, foreign governments, and foreign business partners.
- Identify and resolve export issues, risk areas, and implications of emerging export issues.
- Review, coordinate and manage Department of State export agreements, including Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, and Distribution Agreements.
- Review, coordinate and manage export and import licenses and permits obtained from the Department of State and the Department of Commerce, and provide oversight for AES filings with the Census Bureau.
- Review, coordinate and manage export classification matters and the certification and use of license exemptions.
- Ensure compliance with global trade export, import and customs record keeping and data management requirements.
- Support implementation of export awareness training and specialized functional training.
- Builds a culture of continuous improvement within the team that aligns to the Metrea Firmware.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certifications
- Masters' Degree or JD
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experiences within Government, private industry, or combination of both with a focus on: export and import compliance; ITAR and EAR requirements; interpreting regulations and navigating ambiguous environments; making decisions using sound judgement while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles, and applicable laws and regulations; exercising discretion and independent judgement in the performance of duties; analyzing, evaluating, developing, and implementing processes and procedures; and effectively communicating with internal and external customers at all levels.
