Position Description

City Light is hiring a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Billing Advisor who will lead our billing and receivables operations while playing a key role in configuring the AR system. This person will take ownership of high-volume invoicing and cash application reconciliations, serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries, and support critical setup elements including customer portal, payment gateway, and invoice presentation. The Accounts Receivable & Billings Advisor will develop and implement cross-functional process improvements to enable more timely and accurate billings and resolve issues with bills. The ideal candidate has a strong financial background, thrives in cross-functional environments, and has both operational discipline and systems savvy. This position reports to the Accounting Director.

Job Responsibilities
Here is more about what you'll be doing:
- Supervise a team of three Accounting Technicians (Acct Tech III) and two Accountants
Develop and implement cross functional process improvements to enable more timely and accurate billings.
- Respond to customers with inquiries about bills, and coordinate with Engineering, Customer Operations, Cost Accounting and other technical staff to resolve issues with bills.
- Identify and advocate for upstream improvements in process and documentation to reduce recurrent billing issues and errors.
- Implement a process to research and apply payments to the correct customer accounts in a timely manner.
- Implement a process to send customer statements timely.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed timely and accurately
- Implement and monitor Accounts Receivable and Billing metrics
AR Operations and Oversight
- Own the billing process end-to-end, including invoice creation, formatting, delivery and accuracy in PeopleSoft.
- Manage high-volume cash application, investigating variances, unapplied cash, and payment discrepancies.
- Perform regular reconciliations to ensure alignment between PeopleSoft and bank/payment systems.
- Supervise AR support roles and provide day-to-day oversight and coaching.
- Monitor and maintain clean AR aging; partner with internal and external stakeholders to support collections.
- Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries related to invoices, payment and account set-up.

- Experience managing high-volume transactions, including reconciliations and payment processing.
- Familiarity with customer portal configuration, payment gateway integration, and invoice formatting within ERP systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills; comfortable fielding inquiries from customers and internal teams.
- Process-oriented with a systems mindset and experience supporting systems implementations or upgrades.
- Expertise and experience in leading broad cross-functional process improvements
- Proven leadership skills, ideally demonstrated in a large organization
- Project Management experience
- Experience developing operational metrics and reports
- Experience in a dynamic, scaling or mission-driven organization is a plus.
