Job Description
We are looking for a motivated individual interested in working in an atypical Structural Engineering position. This role involves using engineering principles to design custom operable systems for world-renowned structures that are highly visible to the public. You will work from the concept level through installation, with responsibilities and engineering levels determined based on your experience and qualifications. The role requires owning designs, taking risks, utilizing engineering principles, building codes, and client codes, and implementing prototype testing to create functional, safe, and economic designs. You will provide engineering leadership, input, and structural design support on a project basis, contributing to multiple aspects of projects including design, documentation, purchasing, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of mechanized structural systems.
Responsibilities
This role requires being on-site every day, with some flexibility if needed. Due to the collaborative nature of the projects, it is preferred to have team members in the office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $145000.00/yr.

Responsibilities
- Provide work direction, technical expertise, and effective communication to the project team.
- Evaluate and vet ideas from other disciplines and high competency teammates.
- Solve complex technical challenges using strong analytical skills and self-direction.
- Engage in conceptual structural design.
- Estimate weights, members, and details for proposal preparation.
- Develop detailed designs using structural methods, software, building codes, and client specifications.
- Produce structural calculations and drawings.
- Conduct shop and field structural inspections.
- Stay current with codes and requirements specific to engineering disciplines.
- Communicate with clients as a Project Engineer.
- Develop design budgets and schedules, and monitor them during the design phase.
- Coordinate the design team to complete designs and achieve project objectives.
- Participate in scheduled design reviews with contractors, architects, engineering consultants, and other project team members.
- Coordinate structural systems with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Provide project status updates for Project Review Meetings and other company meetings.
- Determine and obtain required materials in coordination with field personnel and purchasing.
- Assist in prototype development, implementation, and documentation.
- Assist in the production of operation & maintenance manuals.
- Visit manufacturing/vendor sites for inspections and communication.
- Provide technical and media support, including written and visual materials.
- Occasionally write articles for magazines and technical journals.
- Monitor project design costs and progress to ensure adherence to approved budgets and schedules.
- Facilitate client communication.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality and performance with shop and field assembly, adjustment, function, aesthetics, costs, and maintenance.
