The Process Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the dynamics of cross-functional projects to improve manufacturing operations by reducing errors, waste and product defects as well as design and monitor operating mechanisms to ensure the adequacy and efficiency of production processes. This hands-on, technically challenging position will entail all aspects of process engineering & Lean Manufacturing, including specifications review, manufacturing process selection, metallurgical product evaluation and analysis, as well as general process improvement. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to driving long term root cause / corrective action plans for quality issues, Lean initiatives, leading kaizen events, defining SPC control specifications, data collection, process improvement analysis, Lean and Six Sigma training, and utilization of resources to impact cost reduction savings. Participate in or assume leadership role in Lean and Six Sigma improvement teams and multi-organizational projects.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
Manage and lead cross-functional process improvement projects and business wide improvement initiatives to reduce errors, waste and product defects.
Active leadership in Lean initiatives and Kaizen activities.
Assess, develop, and implement Lean Manufacturing action plans to support achievement of strategy deployment and strategic business growth.
Develop methods, processes, and procedures that will improve processes, eliminate failures and reduce manufacturing costs.
Review manufacturing activities and provide recommendations to improve safety; improve quality; and improve productivity, setup times, material flows and cycle times.
Train and mentor employees on Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
Ensure confidentiality of company and personnel information at all times.
Comply with corporate guidelines and legal requirements on business ethics
Performs other related duties as required.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual that has a proven track record as a change agent. He/She will have a strong background in problem solving / root cause analysis as well as experience within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and ability to lead through influence. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively deal with people across all functions and levels within the plant (shop floor up to the General Manager). He/She will have proven experience implementing Continuous Improvement activities across a business. He/She will be self-directed, motivated, energetic and driven person who thrives on spending much of their time on the shop floor working directly with front line employees and supervision.

Desired Skills and Experiences Include:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • Strong background in quality concepts such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Root Cause Corrective Action, 8D, etc... to drive permanent quality improvement.
  • 5 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with assignments in Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement implementation. Operations experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to Drive change activities down to shop floor levels and create error proofing of all solutions.
  • Use of PLCs preferred.
  • Must be capable of identifying technical problems and preventing and/or resolving issues rapidly.
  • Individual must be comfortable in a metric driven environment which requires a strong work ethic, team orientation and hands-on management style that demands accountability to one's area of expertise.
  • Individual must be a change agent who knows how to gather and integrate information quickly.
  • Requires Project management skills, a logical approach to problem solving, analytical skills and a big-picture understanding with short term tactical focus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional peers as well as upper level management.
  • The ability to make independent judgments and utilize problem solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Computer proficiency and Organizational skills
