Your Impact
As a Carrier Certification Engineer II at Axon, you will be instrumental in validating and certifying our wireless, WWAN-enabled devices to ensure optimal performance and compliance with Mobile Network Operator (MNO) standards. Your technical expertise will support rigorous in-field testing, device troubleshooting, and close coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders to meet certification requirements.
By combining hands-on device validation with in-depth network testing and issue resolution, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our connected devices-such as body-worn cameras and in-vehicle systems-operate seamlessly across multiple carrier networks. Your work will directly contribute to delivering reliable, carrier-compliant technology solutions that serve Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and the communities they protect.

Your Impact
As a Carrier Certification Engineer II at Axon, you will be instrumental in validating and certifying our wireless, WWAN-enabled devices to ensure optimal performance and compliance with Mobile Network Operator (MNO) standards. What You'll Do
- Certify and validate WWAN-enabled devices (4G, 5G, RedCap) against requirements set by global MNOs.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of certification requirements across various carriers.
- Interface and collaborate with Global MNOs to secure product approval, align on use cases, define performance criteria, and ensure certification timelines are met.
- Develop and execute test plans and use diagnostic tools (QXDM, QCAT, etc.) to assess UE performance and compliance.
- Conduct thorough in-field network testing-including stress tests and performance benchmarking-on multiple MNO networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve device-level issues, collaborating closely with electrical, software, and firmware engineering teams.
- Capture and analyze L3 logs to diagnose complex problems and isolate root causes.
- Document test processes and results in detail, providing actionable insights and regular updates to stakeholders.
- Manage multiple certification projects concurrently, ensuring timely execution and alignment with product timelines.
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and external partners to meet certification goals and ensure carrier readiness.
- Stay informed on emerging carrier technologies, tools, and global certification standards to keep Axon devices at the forefront of mobile connectivity.
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in carrier certification, device validation, or wireless network testing, specifically focused on WWAN-enabled devices (LTE, 5G).
- Experience working directly with MNOs or in environments requiring compliance with carrier certification processes.
- Proven track record of conducting in-field device testing, analyzing L3 protocol logs and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Strong understanding of WWAN technologies, including LTE, 5G, and RedCap.
- Proficiency in L3 log analysis using tools like QXDM and QCAT; ability to read, interpret, and act on protocol messaging logs.
- Experience in field validation testing across multiple carrier networks.
- Familiarity with MNO certification requirements and device validation standards.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience resolving network, device, or protocol-level issues.
- Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills for cross-functional team interactions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel as needed for testing and carrier engagement.
- Project management skills-capable of balancing timelines and resources across multiple initiatives.
- Experience presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Spanish (spoken and written) is a plus.
