Business Analyst Consultant

Contributes strategic vision and serves as a top-level technical contributor in the planning, development, implementation, functionality and evaluation of integrated information systems that support and enhance the business operation. Leads in the formulating and defining of systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Serves as a top-level business systems consultant and resource with business knowledge and computer expertise to coordinate and provide support for all new and current applications and software upgrades applicable to the business systems. Consults on major initiatives and projects, including multiple service lines, platforms, and various administrative interfaces regarding the integration of technology with the overall business.

Partners with the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) and business units to perform business analysis functions such as gathering user requirements, business rules, and data sources for new or existing applications. Responsible for the analysis, testing and implementation of the most complex business systems and solutions. Acts as a subject matter expert on business systems strategies, procedures, policies, methodologies. Provides direction and insight to leaders, peers and team members regarding the identification and alignment of strategic technology requirements with evolving business opportunities. Provides ongoing communication with customers on system status and data issues. Will advise on end-user training for business applications to ensure understanding of functionality. Provide second tier troubleshooting and assist with maintaining existing applications (e.g. monitor processes, error correction, provide QA of data and maintain data integrity, system testing, report software deficiencies to vendor, etc.). Provides expert consultation on complex information systems projects.

Education/Experience

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Desired Education: Master's Degree

Required Qualifications: 6 years of relevant experience required; extensive experience in Higher Education systems or Information Technology (preferably experience in financial aid systems); knowledge of analysis, specification design, report formatting; extensive experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business and technical requirements; work experience in developing functional design and user documentation; strong project and process management skills; ability to manage large, complex projects/initiatives that involve high risk and great impact to the organization; good communication skills; knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solution and Higher Education business practices preferred; ability to mentor other team members with technical issues.

Additional Information:

The hiring range for this position is $102,000 - $118,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
