Job Summary

This position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration for the Office of Student Involvement unit (formerly known as Student and Family Connections) in the Division of Student Affairs.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership for the development and implementation of co-curricular programs and significant campus-wide programming efforts and events such as Weeks of Welcome, Regatta, Elite 50, Jagathon, and Jagapalooza
  • Responsible for oversight of more than 400 student organizations including fraternity and sorority life
  • Directly advises the Graduate and Professional Student Government, and indirectly advises the Undergraduate Student Government, family engagement initiatives such as the family calendar and newsletter, and overall student success efforts related to student involvement
  • Oversees fiscal management, personnel, technology, and sponsorships
  • Develops and assesses co-curricular student engagement and learning
  • Manages all policies, procedures, and protocols, and all matters related to Student Involvement operations
General Responsibilities
  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define student programming methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority student programming projects/initiatives
  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase student programming initiatives
  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal
  • Manages high level assignments and allocation of student programming resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale student programming projects with a wide audience in support of academic initiatives
  • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment
  • Researches and stays up to date on new industry student programming standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs
  • Works collaboratively with other student programming leaders across departments and units in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures
  • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to student programming

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 4 years in student programs, higher education student affairs, or related field
  • 1 year of management experience in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. $87,000 - $90,000 per year based on experience
