Job Description Summary
The Combustion Mechanical Design Engineer will be a member of the Combustion Design module. This engineer will join the team and will have ownership of the Mechanical design of advanced gas turbine combustion system, with focus on high hydrogen NPI. This role will work in a cross functional team environment to apply design to improve hardware configurations to meet all operability, emissions, cost, and durability requirements. In addition, the mechanical engineer will work with the team to coordinate laboratory tests to validate the designs, and/or the field tests and engine commissioning's.

What you'll do
  • Applying combustion/ gas turbine fundamentals, Tools & Processes to the mechanical design & development of gas turbine combustion system. Conceive practical ideas to solve mechanical problems, justify the design concepts with hand calculations and analysis, present ideas through design reviews and drawing sign-offs, validate designs through lab testing and field hardware review
  • Execute the mechanical design of a new combustion system, evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering fundamentals and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and data reduction techniques.
  • Demonstrate mindset of ownership and accountability to achieve program goals
  • Responsible for testing efforts and coordination. Perform pre and post combustion laboratory / engine test data processing to find valuable insights which can be used to draw key conclusions. Suggest and execute ideas to improve the combustion system design.
  • Work effectively within cross-functional - Aero, Mechanical, CFD & FEA teams for project execution.
  • Effectively document and present results in formal and informal reviews

What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)
  • BS or MS Degree in Engineering or Science
  • Minimum of 1 year experience of mechanical design, development and testing of combustion hardware

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Design and testing experience/coordination.
  • Experience working with vendors to develop new methods and techniques.
  • Strong team skills
  • Unigraphics (UG) CAD experience


The base pay range for this position is 79,400.00 - 119,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% bonus.
