With the direction of the External Affairs Assistant Deputy Controller and Deputy Controller, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) will independently and at the full journey level, perform the work associated with providing outreach and analytical services in support of the Public Affairs Office operations. The AGPA will execute and evaluate the outreach efforts of the Controller, while providing research, technical, logistical, and backup services to the Executive Office, the Controller's scheduler, and other staff within the office.
This position is located in Southern California.

This position is located in Southern California and requires up to 50% travel.

Duties performed:

- Meet with constituency groups and attend events on behalf of the State Controller or Assistant Deputy Controller for the purpose of providing State Controller's Office (SCO) related information, which requires traveling to various locations across California.
- Act as a lead to research, analyze, track, and provide consultative services to the Controller and External Affairs team related to statewide events, communities of interest, and public and community-based organizations, for the purposes of engaging in outreach about SCO programs and to determine quality and alignment with the SCO's mission.
- Provide analytical and research support to the Assistant Deputy Controller to ensure the furtherance of the goals of the SCO outreach programs and special projects including but not limited to, developing and maintaining databases for tracking all External Affairs contacts.
- Prepare and manage outreach program materials as needed for the regions covered by the External Affairs team, including, but not limited to, developing fact sheets.
- Independently formulate written and verbal responses to the more complex inquiries received about SCO programs, policies, procedures, and/or issues.
- Prepare evaluation reports to be presented to the Assistant Deputy Controller as necessary.
- Become a subject matter expert on complex policy and program issues and provide training to support staff.
- Provide technical and logistical support to the State Controller and External Affairs team for outreach events and special projects, including, but not limited to, developing applicable charts, graphs, and other visual graphic presentations using Microsoft applications that will be incorporated into written and oral presentations delivered internally and publicly.
- Lead special projects, such as establishing online platforms for communications, document retrieval, etc., using relevant programs.
- Function as a liaison between the Sacramento and Los Angeles offices for purposes of information sharing for statewide public awareness.
- Develop and maintain office systems, processes, and procedures with respect to document retention and correspondence.
- On rare occasion provide backup support when instructed.
