This is a hybrid role.

Salary: $175k-$200k/yr + 25% annual bonus

Hours: Monday - Friday (Normal Business Hours)

Willing to travel up to 25% for site visits

Must be located in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area

Vice President of Data Center Operations

Position Overview: The Vice President of Data Center Operations will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the technical, telecom, security, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and operations for Salute's largest global customer. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in large-scale enterprise-level operations, capable of driving consistent programs across all data centers. The VP will work closely with senior internal and customer leadership, at the C-suite level, to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans for data center operations, ensuring alignment with Salute's overall business objectives.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the operational management of all data centers, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability. Analyze existing operating conditions and recommend new technologies to improve overall efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of high-performing directors and managers, fostering a culture of safety, security, compliance, and transparency.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with hyperscale clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded. Act as the primary point of contact for major clients and stakeholders.
  • Incident Management: Actively participate in the incident and outage process, ensuring proper root cause analysis and appropriate follow-up with affected site contacts.
  • Quality Standards: Initiate and establish quality standards for data center teams and manage those initiatives through to completion.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial performance of data center operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Oversee periodic audits of maintenance MOPs, equipment SOPs, and Emergency Operator Procedures (EOPs).
  • Innovation: Drive the development of innovative solutions to enhance data center operations and client satisfaction. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven experience managing large-scale and complex projects/programs.
  • Skills: Expertise in critical MEP infrastructure operations, strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments, including outdoors and in extreme temperatures.

  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
  • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
  • Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
  • Possession of a valid driver's license for work-related travel, as required
