About the Role:

Join our dynamic and innovative data team in the vibrant city of Chicago! We are on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced professional with deep expertise in the Microsoft data ecosystem and AWS cloud services. In this role, you'll play a critical part in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, implementing scalable data architectures, and enabling robust analytics capabilities across the organization. This is a high-impact role that requires hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, modern data engineering practices, and a passion for solving complex data challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable and scalable data pipelines using tools in the Microsoft Stack (e.g., SQL Server, SSIS, Azure Data Factory) and AWS (e.g., Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda).
  • Develop and manage ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver clean, validated, and well-modeled datasets.
  • Implement data quality, governance, and observability practices.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance and cost in cloud environments.
  • Lead efforts to modernize legacy data systems and migrate on-prem solutions to the cloud.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to inform technical strategy and decision-making.

Requirements:
  • Must be based in Chicago, IL or willing to relocate (local candidates only).
  • 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Proficient in Python or another scripting language for data processing and automation.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Azure certifications (e.g., DP-203) or AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty).
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD for data pipelines and DevOps principles.
  • Knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization tools.
