Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer with a strong background in aerospace or defense to support missile testing programs. In this role, you will coordinate and execute test campaigns at our Mojave Desert site, drone fields, and other designated test ranges. You will work closely with cross-functional teams-including propulsion, guidance, systems integration, and flight operations-to ensure safe, efficient, and successful testing of missile systems. Your expertise will help drive continuous improvements in test methodologies, data analysis, and integration best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for ground and flight tests of missile systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure required test resources (facilities, equipment, test ranges).
  • Manage logistics for testing in various environments, including the Mojave Desert and designated drone fields.
  • Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Oversee live-fire and flight test activities, ensuring compliance with all range safety and mission requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate real-time test performance parameters (telemetry, radar, sensor data).
  • Collect, organize, and validate test data from multiple instrumentation sources.
  • Perform detailed post-test data analysis to verify performance against test objectives.
  • Generate test reports to document results, findings, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Integration and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve test anomalies, system defects, and performance issues.
  • Propose design or process changes based on test findings to enhance reliability and system performance.
  • Safety and Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, government regulations, and company policies during testing.
  • Maintain detailed records of test activities to support certification and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes.
  • Act as liaison between test teams, flight operations, and program management.
  • Communicate test progress, challenges, and results effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide input into design changes, planning cycles, and broader organizational initiatives related to test activities.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in testing or integration within aerospace, defense, or a related industry.
  • Basic proficiency in C/C++ embedded software and operating in a Linux environment is preferred
  • Exposure to missile system testing, flight test programs, or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations preferred.
  • Familiarity with test environments such as desert proving grounds, remote drone fields, or similar test sites.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition systems and instrumentation (accelerometers, strain gauges, telemetry).
  • Understanding of aerospace structures, propulsion, guidance systems, and flight dynamics.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, or software issues.
