General Description
Metro Transit is responsible for a fleet of over 240 buses, 311 full time Transit Operators, and provides millions of rides to Madison and surrounding communities each year. This position will provide professional, consistent data analysis by gathering and maintaining all performance indicators related to the unit to maximize efficiency, help direct and support performance excellence, outcome-based budgeting, and equity-focused performance in the Operations unit. This position reports to the Transit Chief Operating Officer.

Employees earn 5 personal days in addition to vacation.
Employees receive eight official paid holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day), as well as 1 paid leave day (the Friday after Thanksgiving).
Employees also earn 13 sick days annually that may accrue to a total of 150 days.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze existing and proposed unit procedures and prepare related reports
- Prepare data-driven reports on possible allocation of resources
- Participate in managing operations databases and software
- Ensure that policies, procedures, analyses, and systems center racial equity and social justice
- Maintain ongoing reporting tools that merge data from different sources
- Track and monitor key performance indicators using quantitative and qualitative analytical methods
- Examine short- and long-term impacts of proposed projects
- Utilize business analytics software (Power BI, Tableau) to analyze data with multiple comparators and layers
- Create reports and presentations for various audiences
- Serve as liaison between Metro Operations and other units/departments to resolve issues and develop best practices
- Research and analyze information from a variety of sources
- Work with Metro IS and contribute to KPI dashboard development and accuracy
- Prepare requested analytic reports and audits for various managers
- Make presentations to internal and external teams, boards, committees, commissions and other groups

- Bachelor's Degree in business analytics, data science, math, statistics, public administration, public policy or related field and
- Two years of experience in data analysis, business analytics or related field
