JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Inventory Control is responsible for managing the inventory control processes for stores and distribution centers, ensuring accurate inventory reporting by location. With strong leadership and execution skills this individual will be responsible for directing, administering and delivering inventory control services for Citi Trends. The Director is responsible for managing the physical inventory program, facilitating accurate and timely counts while controlling costs and disruption to the business. The Director will drive improvement in the function of each team, seeking opportunities to improve efficiency without sacrificing the quality of work. Working cross-functionally throughout the organization, this position will play a key role in ensuring inventory integrity throughout the chain, supporting proper financial reporting and reliability for the product allocation team.
This high-visibility position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, with active engagements across the organization. The Director of Inventory Control will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of the store and distribution center inventory control teams
- Lead the store physical inventory program, managing third party relationships to ensure quality and cost control
- Develop actionable, executive-level reporting on physical inventory results; partnering with Loss Prevention, Store Operations and Merchandising with recommendations to improve results
- Lead the distribution center inventory control teams to ensure inventory data is being recorded properly in both WM and the ERP system, identifying root causes of exceptions and working with DC management to quickly address the issue; establish a 'know the floor' mentality within the team to identify any slow or incorrectly placed product, working with management to resolve
- Lead the daily DC cycle count process, quickly escalating and issues as needed
- Work with Loss Prevention and DC management to establish a DC LP program
- Identifies and implements process improvements to leverage technology and drive efficiency across teams
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Experience in a multi-location retail environment with a focus on business analytics and financial and operational strategy
- Knowledge of retail industry dynamics, including merchandising, inventory management, and supply chain considerations
- Proficiency working with data sets; comfortable navigating various systems to investigate data flows and recommend improvements as needed
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize effectively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effectively coaches and develops staff, mentors through feedback and clear expectations
- Works with team to determine high priority objectives, deadlines, etc. and broadly shares responsibility and accountability
- This position requires travel as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with 3+ years in a management or leadership role
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management required
- Retail industry experience is highly preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must frequently use their hands to handle or feel objects and must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- The employee must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to various company locations as needed to support the Inventory Control function
