Job Summary

The Director of the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center serves as the chief advisor to the Associate Vice President for Student Wellbeing in areas pertaining to the prevention of interpersonal, sexual and gender-based violence, and advocacy for those impacted. In particular, the director will recommend new violence prevention and Title IX-related programs and services to the campus community.

The director willfocus upon the intersectionality between intervention, violence prevention, and the Dimensions of Wellness to help guide our university to creating a safer environment for our students, employees, and visitors. A main component of the VIP Center is providing support and advocacy for persons directly or indirectly affected by interpersonal, gender-based violence and/or sexual assault. The office provides consultation, case management, referrals, and support for students as well as serving as a resource for faculty, staff, and others.

As a resident expert in these areas, this position will sit on university committees as assigned and may be asked to present to the Board of Trustees on occasion to address the VIP Center's functions and provide aggregate institutional data.

The director will supervise a staff of four employees. The Director position will require a broad scope of knowledge with regard to subjects including prevention, and advocacy. Individuals with strengths in strategic planning, supervision of full-time employees, and understanding of a healthy work-life balance are encouraged to apply.

From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of relevant federal, state and campus regulations regarding sexual or gender-based violence; experience in direct victim/survivor advocacy and intervention, awareness of best-practice prevention strategies.
