Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Director of Yukon Public Libraries fosters a collaborative, team approach, both within the division and with external contacts and clients. The Director is an important member of the division's management team and provides strategic leadership to encourage, strengthen, enable, and support public libraries across the territory.
About the job:
The ideal candidate will have strong strategic thinking skills, client service orientation and a flexible, proactive approach to working with staff, colleagues, and clients. They will resolve issues and problems using strong negotiation skills, as well as make decisions with integrity and balanced judgement.

- Completion of a degree in a relevant field (such as Library and Information Science, Public Administration, Community Development, or Education).
- Experience in financial and human resource management.
- Experience leading and developing staff including performance and talent management.
- Experience designing, implementing, and assessing programming, especially related to diversity and inclusion.
- A degree in Library and Information Science will be considered an asset.
- Experience working in a library or archive, particularly at the management level, will be considered an asset.
- Experience working with societies and boards will be considered an asset.
