Company: Amazon

Location: Bellevue, WA 98006

Description:

Global Logistics (GL) is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our Inbound Cost Authority (ICA) initiative and Length of Haul (LOH) optimization strategies. This role will drive critical decisions in how inventory moves from suppliers to fulfillment centers across Amazon's network, directly impacting billions in transportation spend.

As a single-threaded leader, you will:

- Own and scale ICA, a strategic initiative that provides cost inputs to critical Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) decision engines

- Develop and implement innovative solutions to optimize Length of Haul across transportation modes

- Drive technical and business partnerships across Transportation, SCOT, and Retail teams

- Lead short and long-term business planning, including cost management and KPI development

- Identify and execute opportunities to reduce transportation costs while maintaining service levels

The ideal candidate will bring deep supply chain experience, strong technical acumen, and proven success in driving cross-functional initiatives at scale. This role offers significant opportunity to shape Amazon's inbound transportation network and deliver measurable cost savings.

Key job responsibilities

- Own and scale ICA, driving adoption across SCOT systems and expanding to new networks and geographies

- Lead strategic analysis of Length of Haul opportunities, developing data-driven solutions to optimize transportation costs

- Partner with Data Science and Tech teams to improve cost prediction models and automate manual processes

- Build and maintain business cases, including cost-benefit analysis and implementation roadmaps

- Develop and track KPIs for transportation cost optimization, providing regular updates to senior leadership

- Drive cross-functional alignment between Transportation, SCOT, and Retail stakeholders

- Manage quarterly business reviews and financial planning, ensuring initiatives meet projected savings targets

- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities to reduce operational overhead

- Create and maintain technical and business documentation for complex supply chain solutions

- Lead rapid experimentation through labs and pilots to validate cost-saving hypotheses

This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at finding creative solutions to complex problems.

A day in the life

As the ICA/LOH Product Manager, you'll start your day analyzing overnight metrics to ensure cost inputs are accurately flowing to SCOT systems. You might deep dive into an unexpected spike in Length of Haul or investigate why certain vendors are experiencing higher transportation costs. You'll partner with data scientists to improve cost prediction models and work with finance to validate savings projections.

Throughout the day, you'll contribute to cross-functional meetings with SCOT, Transportation, and Retail teams, driving alignment on initiatives and responding to operational escalations. You'll spend time hunting through data to identify optimization opportunities, building business cases, and documenting findings in detailed six-pager documents for leadership review.

You'll own the Length of Haul metric end-to-end, becoming the subject matter expert that teams consult for transportation cost optimization. This includes regular updates to senior leadership, quarterly business reviews, and frequent partnership with Finance to track actual versus forecasted savings.
