Selectek has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Manager/Crane Assembler who will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the construction of ship loaders, focusing on materials handling projects for Port facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating construction site activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Candidate will primarily be working in Asia overseeing the construction of heavy industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-construction Design Review (USA)
Travel/Location- Someone can be from out west as long as they are open to being on the road 100%. They would either be at the Alpharetta office, in China, or at one of their clients overseeing the installation of the equipment. This means it will probably be someone open to eventually moving to Alpharetta.

Pay range: $100,000+
Term of assignment: Direct Hire
Pay method when direct: Salary role, no overtime pay
Location of job: Alpharetta, GA 30005 - OK to be from outside of Atlanta area but would have to be OK with100% travel and possibly open to moving to Alpharetta area down the road
Hours and shift: Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM
Work from home: No, this job is on the road
Working remote: No
Overtime expected: Depends on the phase of the role
Travel: 100% - They will be 20% of the time in the Alpharetta office. The other 80 percent of the time they will be in China or on a job site (their equipment is manufactured in China but most of their customers are in the U.S.)
Work attire: business casual

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-construction Design Review (USA)
- Travel to home office to review design
- Work with engineering and project teams to clearly understand design and construction procedures. (structural, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic)
- Fully understand contract documents (as sold proposal and delivery schedule, client specifications and quality standards)
- Assist with construction scope of work documentation for Asian subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align construction service activities with project requirements.
- Conduct regular project status meetings to review progress and address any issues.
- Coordinate QA/QC reports between construction sites and home office engineering.
- Collect and review QA/QC report from fabricator and report any issues.
- Review and implement any project specific installation QA/QC and Inspection Test Protocol.
- Onsite inventory of all free-issue components shipped to site.
- Generate 1 to 2 week look ahead schedules and confirm all parts are accounted for and staged.
- Conduct daily on-site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with construction superintendents for each craft to address any on-site challenges promptly.
- Manage subcontractor's daily activities and prioritize needs.
- Maintain detailed logs to track changes made during the construction process, ensuring accurate documentation of alterations.
- Perform constructability reviews with engineering and share findings with stakeholders.
- Sign off documentation, including QA/QC and Inspection Test Protocol
- Lead Lockout/Tagout/Checkout Protocol
- Coordinate equipment disassembly as needed with tagging and seaworthy packaging of loose parts
- Facilitate insurance inspections for rigging, lifting and securing to ocean vessel.
- Verify that all performance guarantees outlined in the project agreements are obtained before project closure.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to address any outstanding issues or deficiencies in performance.
- Support the projects team in addressing and resolving warranty-related issues post-construction.
- Collaborate with the project manager to assess and respond to any claims for liquidated damages or back charges.
- Provide documentation to defend against unjust claims and negotiate settlements when necessary.
- Verify accuracy of as-built drawings, reflecting all modifications made during construction, are marked up and completed.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that final as-built drawings are accurate and comprehensive.
- Facilitate a comprehensive review of project outcomes, emphasizing lessons learned and areas for improvement.
- Document and share insights to enhance future project planning and execution.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of proven experience in construction project management with a focus on heavy bulk material handling.
- Strong leadership and management skills
- In depth knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards in the construction industry
- Willingness and experience with extensive travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience in industrial machine construction and testing

- AWS D1.1 / general welding practices
- AISC construction practices / tolerances / connections
- Mechanical items: motors and gearboxes / gear mesh / drive alignments / winch and reeving / hydraulics / conveyors / dust collector / air compressor / cable reel / bearings
- Mechanical and electrical routing practices (lubrication/hydraulic/air/water/conduit/cable tray/junction boxes)
- Electrical devices and functions and general knowledge of terminations
- Rigging practices
