Expected pay for this position is $36.39 - $42.81/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily operations of designated department/s. Assists the Manager in financial, capital and human resources to ensure services meet established quality and productivity standards, and takes corrective action as necessary. Ensures the provision of high quality services in accordance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements. Responsible for departmental personnel ensuring orientation, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, discipline, performance, and human resource activities are completed. Serves as a steward of department assets in relation to staff utilization and purchasing, setting a high standard of personal performance and serving as a role model for mission partners. Responsible for oversight of the School of Histotechnology in coordination with the Program Director.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education, Experience, and Certification:
  • Associate's degree in a science or healthcare related field.
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histology program and subsequent certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP).
  • 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Education, Experience, and Certification:
  • Bachelor Degree in a science or healthcare related field.
  • Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP)
  • 2 years of leadership experience, with proven ability to direct and influence others to achieve common goals.
  • A track record of successful leadership competencies, such as project management, performance improvement leadership roles, and/or acting in an educational leadership role.

Other skills/knowledge:
  • Technical expertise necessary in order to interpret tests, recognize abnormal test results, validate and optimize new testing platforms, synthesize complex technical procedures and troubleshoot technical or equipment issues.
  • Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine appropriate specimen preparation method, and to evaluate suitability of slides or assay results produced.
  • Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals.
  • High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
