Description:

Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM), a division of Zurich North America, is currently hiring for a Real Estate Operations Lead, Alternative Investments. This person will report to the Executive Director and COO, Alternative Asset Management. This person can work in a hybrid schedule and would work in the NYC office in Lower Manhattan.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operations support, data analysis, accounting review and reporting for the ZAAM US Real Estate Team.
  • Responsible for and provide monthly and quarterly reporting, response to data requests, ad hoc requests from clients, gather and analyze data. in close collaboration with the ZAAM US real estate team,
  • Manage the Performance measurement and attribution process, particularly with NCREIF benchmarks.
  • Manage and lead the governance and control aspect of the role. Be responsible for all relevant controls and be able to incorporate new controls where necessary to reduce risk.
  • Publish quarterly performance reporting for Zurich Investors and to ZAAM investment committee. Manage the reporting oversight and interaction with various teams such as Group Real Estate, Third Party Clients, and US real estate asset management
  • Prepare and analyze specific annual budget requirements related to 3rd party vendors, applications, and projects.
  • Be a change management leader. Innovate processes and reporting analytics via technology and process improvement initiatives.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience in Alternative Investments, Asset Management or Operations Financial Services area AND
  • Advanced Knowledge of Alternative Investments specifically Real Estate.
  • Knowledge and application of transactions including processing capital call, distribution, valuation statements and various tax records.
  • Advanced Experience in Operational process and procedure efficiency.
  • Expertise in financial reporting reconciliation.
  • Experience in Alternative Asset reporting capabilities.
  • Applications Experience-Dynamo, Burgiss, Yardi, Any alternative asset platform.
  • Experience with documenting workflows and business processes.
  • Experience working in a IM control and governance environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFCR control world.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with major in Economics, Engineering, Business Admin or Accounting
  • RE Accounting background experience
  • Knowledge of code-based language (e.g., Python, C++, HTML, CSS)
  • Project management experience
  • Data Analysis and knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Python and R is a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Office Excel, VBA, Visio, PowerPoint and Project skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills


At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $141,375.00 to $231,375.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
