Description:
Amazon is seeking an International Indirect Tax Manager (VAT / GST), to join the Tax Department and support Amazon's international advertising business.
This position interacts with Amazon's advertising business and wider group of related stakeholders.
The candidate will communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals. The candidate will work with a high level of collegiality, functioning as an indirect tax adviser on global VAT / GST systems.
In this role, the candidate will think strategically while also engaging in day-to-day tactical details. The candidate will identify and manage tax and execution risks. Additionally, the candidate will use their in-depth tax technical knowledge and experience to evaluate and advise on business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals.
Key job responsibilities
- Researching advanced international indirect tax issues - working with taxing authorities and outside advisers as necessary - as part of a tax team involved in support of business initiatives.
- Assist with developing and evaluating planning opportunities providing benefit to the company.
- Assist with developing strategic and operational implementation work plans and ability to measure results against plans.
- Assists with implementation of agreed-upon indirect tax strategies and projects.
- Managing and coordinating tax requirements for existing and new program launches.
- Managing tax positions by providing relative tax guidance and working to build relationships and understanding with the business so that adherence is maintained.
- Reviewing financial data for proper application of tax laws and advising on development and maintenance of accounting systems which provide tax information required to be reported.
- Maintaining and communicating knowledge of past, present and potential future tax laws, regulations, rulings, procedures and court decisions.
- Assisting with managing relationships with outside tax consultants and regulatory authorities on an ongoing basis.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $80,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $172,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
