Overview

Allison' Earned Media Center of Excellence is an agency resource with a focus on earned media relations and media strategy. Team members bring outside thinking and tenured media experience to help clients overcome market and media challenges to achieve success. The Earned Media Center of Excellence operates across practice groups to provide industry insights to account teams and clients as well as media strategy and pitching support.

Team members will also be heavily involved in new business - guiding strategy, direction and offer media and vertical insights.

As a Director, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping and guiding earned media strategies for top-tier clients. You'll serve as a senior advisor on complex media challenges, support new business efforts with sharp insights and strategy, and mentor junior talent to strengthen media capabilities across the agency. This role includes direct people management and requires strong collaboration, media savvy, and an ability to lead by example.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in Allison's committees and contributes or leads elements of the Earned Media Center of Excellence including but not limited to Media Labs, A+P's earned media workshops, and agency training sessions
  • As part of the Earned Media COE leadership, identify ownable areas, tied to your areas of expertise, to help grow capabilities, internal + external offerings, and agency and team skill sets
  • Collaborates with senior account leads in the development and implementation of earned media strategies
  • Actively pitches and pursues media to secure earned results; and proactively develops new story angles for clientsand teams
  • Maintains a strong list of media friendlies where those relationships can benefit clients across the agency
  • Provides on-going and consistent media updates to teams you're supporting
  • Communicates evolving industry and media trends with the agency and specific practice groups as well as shares media moves and specific media insights with the agency
  • Advises media lists and teams on appropriate media targets by industry vertical or targets to specific area of expertise
  • Edits and develops media pitches
  • Provides strategic counsel to teams and often directly to clients tied to industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, advising best approaches to achieve earned media results
  • Manages hours, scopes and is proactive with open time to optimize availability
  • Supports new business initiatives, develop first drafts of media slides and offers media insights and strategy and participate in new business pitches, when needed
  • Mentors and fosters junior staff with an appetite and interest in media relations
  • Promotes and upholds Allison's core values and participates in agency-wide training and professional development programs


Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in public relations, marketing, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on earned media.
  • Previous experience in a senior-level media specialist or director role, preferably at an agency.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate success in managing and adapting to multiple project deadlines start-to-finish, producing near-final versions of internal and client deliverables
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn and enthusiastic about the work
  • Strong media relations skills. Existing and established media relationships with both Hispanic Media and other top tier media.
  • Demonstrates strong interest in management and leadership
  • Proficient writer and editor
  • Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, alongside Zoom and Teams
  • Experience using media monitoring and data analytics tools like Muckrack, Critical Mention, Meltwater and Cision.

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in all locations within the United States for this role is $90k - $135k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
