Summary: The regional sales director is responsible for leading a team of Regional Sales Managers who are responsible for leading a team of outside sales reps within a specific geographic region. As a sales director, you will focus on coaching the coach and working with your team to exceed annual sales and margin budgets. These results will be achieved by setting profitable stretch goals, driving discipline in pipeline management, and by working with RVP's and GM's on developing and executing our strategy within the assigned region.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business related field is preferred with at least 5 years of management related experience.

The Sales Director must have a competitive attitude and desire to succeed. The employee should be skilled at Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should have the ability to prioritize daily workflow, multitask and meet deadlines. They should have accuracy, discretion, excellent communication skills both oral and written, and attention to detail a must. The Sales Director must have time management skills, be self-motivated, able to build relationships, and always maintain a positive attitude. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. This position requires significant travel with overnight stays. This position requires the possession of a valid state driver's license.
Supervisory Requirements:
This position manages a team of 5 or more Regional Sales Managers and has direct responsibility for the sales and gross margins over his or her region.

- Plans and achieves stretch goals for their region, driving profitable growth.
- Achieves budget for revenue and gross margin.
- Grows market share annually, outpacing housing demand growth.
- Utilization of data to understand current business, reduce customer churn, and to set goals and focus of region.
Coaching and development of our Regional Sales Managers:
- Being intentional on coaching the coach.
- Manages performance through defined expectations and follow through.
- Monthly snapshot meetings to discuss historical sales trends and growth opportunities in our opportunity pipeline.
- Monthly 1 on 1's to discuss priorities, professional development, and progress on goals aligned with divisional, regional, and market strategies.
Champions Woodgrain Sales Process:
- Coaching the 5-stage sales process and skills used throughout the sales process.
- Holds team accountable to opportunity pipeline engagement and moving all opportunities through the sales process with a sense of urgency.
- Reinforces importance of different skills used throughout the sales process:
- Preparing for meetings.
- Handling all customer objections.
- Actively listening.
- Strategic questioning.
- Quantify financial impact of customer challenges
Communicates well across all functions of our business:
- Works closely with National accounts on opportunities and initiatives.
- Communicates regularly with GM's and RVP's regarding all business functions.
- Regular cadence with marketing team on business priorities, open projects, and productive use of supplier co-op funds.
- Collaborates well with supply chain, operations, transportation, credit, etc.
- Acts as a leader in the company when working with other departments.
Pricing and Inventory:
- Actively engaging with GM's, RVP's, Product Management, and Supply Chain on our breadth and depth of inventory for our strategic product categories.
- Seeks to identify new trends in value added products that allow Woodgrain to position ourselves as a leader in Building Materials Distribution.
- Understands market prices, looking for opportunities to work with our pricing teams and GMs to increase gross margin and to drive more volume on commoditized product lines.
Partnerships:
- Develops relationships with key account leaders and influencers.
- Regular cadence with supply partners through pipeline meetings, customers events, and product trainings.
- Works closely with Woodgrain National Accounts on opportunities, initiatives, and developing relationship with key National Account leaders within the region.
