We're seeking a Manager, Drilling, Completions & Construction to join our Lloydminster Thermal team based in Calgary. Reporting to the President of SCR Lloydminster Thermal, the Manager, Drilling, Completions & Construction, is a key member of the Lloydminster Thermal leadership team. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing all day-to-day operations related to drilling, completions, and construction, with specific accountability for:
  • Drilling engineering and operations
  • Well Servicing and Completion engineering and operations
  • Construction operations


The Manager, Drilling, Completions, & Construction will support the development and delivery of the capital budget and encourage a culture focused on efficiencies to maximize Shareholder value.

Essential Functions:
  • Accountable for safe and efficient execution of all drilling, completions, well servicing & construction activities.
  • Provide input and collaborate effectively with the Lloydminster Thermal leadership team to support development and successful implementation of a corporate strategy, goals, and objectives.
  • Share responsibility for all key issues that may impact the organizational results with the full leadership team.
  • Lead and foster a culture focused on the pursuit of operational excellence by striving for efficiencies, continuous improvements and encouraging relationships with industry peers and relevant industry groups to leverage and adopt learnings.
  • In conjunction with the HSE Department, lead and manage a practical safety program and culture that delivers an incident and accident-free operation.
  • Lead and manage the Corporations Drilling, Completion and Construction teams responsible for executing the capital program at the highest capital efficiencies.
  • Ensure all functions within the group are following a consistent process to procure and manage services to maintain competitive rates and quality service / execution.
  • Lead the development and communication of departmental goals and priorities, in alignment with the organization's business strategy and vision.
  • Lead and provide oversight to ensure Strathcona complies with all regulatory and environmental standards during D&C activities.
  • Provide leadership and accountability to our field workover operations ensuring top tier performance, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure performance tracking measures are in place to sufficiently monitor the effectiveness of key capital performance indicators.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is an asset.
  • Direct experience in each drilling, completions & construction operations.
  • 10+ years of experience in thermal drilling or completions.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary field operations and contractor interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of well design, well servicing and construction practices.
  • Experience with thermal well integrity is an asset.
  • Certifications in Well Control, HSE, and Project Management (PMP) are assets.


Work Environment:
  • This position is based out of the head office in Calgary, AB.
