What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $78,337-129,256/year. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $88,000-103,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to: Four (4) Medical Plans, Dental, Vision Insurance

This position is located at the Wellington Webb Building, located at 201 W Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80202.
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees' physical work location is based upon the position's job duties and requirements, customer service and responsiveness, team and individual performance, and business needs and requirements. Our current practice requires in-office work for all employees for a minimum of three days per week. Business needs and initial onboarding may require additional days in the office.
Please note: Downtown parking expenses are the responsibility of the employee. We offer a flexible spending account option specifically for parking; if you elect this option, you can use pre tax dollars for parking. We also offer an RTD 'eco pass' to all City employees- allowing the use of public transportation for free as a City Employee.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Serving as project manager and team lead for a Neighborhood Planning Initiative (NPI) area plan.
- Developing plan recommendations that address diverse topics including land use, urban design, equity, housing, transportation, infrastructure, economic development, sustainability, and quality of life.
- Overseeing the work of staff and consultants and may include multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional efforts.
- Developing project scopes of work, timelines, and budgets.
- Proactively engaging the public in long-range planning tasks including facilitating meetings, making effective presentations, and bringing together stakeholders to discuss ideas, assess obstacles, evaluate opposing views and interests, and determine areas of support.

- Direct project management experience leading long range plans
- Experience with negotiating positive outcomes and navigating complex political contexts
- Experience with integrating equity into planning work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Public speaking and engagement skills
- The ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Problem-solving skills to effectively engage internal and external partners
- Strong self-motivation and motivation to help others
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, software used in Denver's planning efforts, including Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign)
- City or county government experience a plus
- Spanish language proficiency a plus (not required)
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, Engineering, or a related degree
- Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of professional planning experience
- Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
