This rotation available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manger's approval

About the Job - Your Role

In this role you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring that Adults in Custody (AICs) have consistent, equitable, and lawful access to legal materials and library resources. You will be responsible for managing a statewide team of library coordinators and staff who support AIC legal calls and services. You will develop and implement policies and procedures, provide ongoing training and performance evaluations, ensure compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders such as DOC leadership, the judicial branch, attorneys, and law enforcement partners.

The role it requires regular review and enhancement of library resources and services, oversight of technology systems, and the ability to lead change through thoughtful planning and communication. The successful candidate will foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful workplace while driving continuous improvement in access-to-justice programming statewide.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR

One (1) year of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work a professional work week that may exceed forty (40) hours.

Library Supervisor is expected to accept responsibility for the operations of all staff assigned. The incumbent's work and leadership must adhere to and further the rules, policies and procedures of the Department, the Correctional Services Division and the Program and Services Unit.

The Library Supervisor must be able to work with computer systems and programs of varying complexities, with minimal training, to transact their work and to supervise the work of institution-based Legal and Library Services staff. Work may be performed in an office setting, authorized remote work location, or in an institution setting. When working or training on the grounds of a correctional facility, the incumbent is required to follow basic security protocols and will work around AICs. There will be regular in-state travel that may include overnight stays.

The incumbent will be required to arrange for or be on-site at any DOC facility to cover for staff absences. The individual in this position will be on-call in the event of declared unit and/or department emergencies. The incumbent may be asked to backfill for other managers on a short-term basis.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
