Job Overview:

Cogent People Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Oracle Developer to join our innovative IT team. In this role, you will develop and maintain data-driven software solutions, services, and integrations to support mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PL/SQL, SQL, and experience working within AWS cloud environments, contributing to Agile projects that deliver impactful business solutions.

This is a full-time position supporting Cogent People's initiatives in the Healthcare domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, code, test and maintain Oracle PL/SQL including packages, procedures, triggers and functions in compliance with company standards and best practices.
  • Work with the Cloud Architect and development teams to analyze application functionality, performance, and integration with systems hosted in AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Leverage GitLab for version control and code repository.
  • Collaborate closely with Agile team members throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Conduct unit, integration, regression and acceptance testing for PL/SQL code, including reviewing and testing work performed by other developers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced Oracle Developers; drive best practices in coding, testing, and code review within the team.
  • Proactively monitor database performance, generate health reports, and recommend tuning strategies to maintain system efficiency.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Over 10 years of experience developing business applications using PL/SQL, SQL, and working with data-centric systems.
  • Extensive expertise in Oracle PL/SQL including packages, procedures, triggers and functions and performance tuning for optimized database functionality.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure, including deployment and management of cloud-based solutions.
  • Proficient in using SQL Developer, Amazon Workspaces, and GitLab for collaborative code management and version control.
  • Strong background in Agile development methodologies, with a focus on delivering iterative and high-quality solutions.
  • Familiar with DevOps tools and practices, particularly for managing database changes in automated pipelines.
  • Proven ability to assess, optimize, and troubleshoot database performance while ensuring secure and efficient development practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working effectively within cross-functional teams, collaborating with developers, cloud architects, and business analysts to deliver solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work.
  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting government clients or working in a regulated environment
  • Knowledge of data reporting, analytics, and ad-hoc data request handling
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
