JOB TITLE:

LOCATION: Central Office
PAYGRADE: Admin Level 3 Scale
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Division Superintendent
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Oversees school system's technology infrastructure, including wireless, local, and wide area networks; end-user devices, cyber and physical security, and IT Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree. Experience in providing technical support in a K-12 school environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Some standing, walking, moving, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling. Able to work in confined spaces with network gear.
EVALUATION:
Will be evaluated annually on the ability and effectiveness to carry out the above responsibilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees IT Department and its employees;
- Advises school and central office staff on technical issues;
- Purchases and maintains wired and wireless network equipment;
- Purchases and maintains cyber- and physical security equipment (firewall, security cameras, electronic door controllers, environmental sensors, etc.);
- Purchases end-user equipment (printers, laptops, desktops, etc.);
- Develops and maintains software for purchasing, employee ID badges, standardized assessment uploads;
- Maintains Google Workspace for Education infrastructure and accounts;
- Maintains Internet filtering system;
- Manages E-Rate application process;
- Supports PowerSchool student information system;
- Maintains division-wide website;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree. Experience in providing technical support in a K-12 school environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of relational databases, particularly Microsoft Access
- Able to configure wireless, local, and wide area networks, preferably with Aruba/HPE and/or Juniper equipment
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles
- Able to manage a student information system, preferably PowerSchool SIS
- Able to configure and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewall
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Python
- Proficient with both Microsoft Office and Google Docs productivity software
- Able to manage a small IT Department Team
- Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Outstanding problem solving ability
