PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company seeks a Principal Data Engineer for its Seattle, WA office (telecommuting permitted)
Job Duties: Design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) processes, EDI framework and processes for data exchange with regulators and rating services. Segregate tables data into different database filegroups and physical data files to perform ETL process efficiently. Utilize Agile development methodologies and traditional waterfall project management to design and build data warehouse objects for insurance company's enterprise data warehouse. Design Star schema / Snowflake Schema models for data warehouse design. Obtain clear requirements from Business and Product Analysts before committing on task development and deliveries. Estimate the work in form of Story Points to give business timeline about adding new functionality (new dimensions/metrics/facts) in data warehouse. Use Erwin data modeling tool to design entity relationship diagrams and customize the company's purchased Insurance Information Warehouse data model. Use BIML Studio to dynamically generate Integration Services packages (SSIS) to transform data from transactional system to Analytical system. Use Visual Studio to maintain the codebase and version history. Write SQL triggers to send alerts and take action to resolve database blocking issues. Fine tune SQL procedures to execute optimal way to ingest data in data warehouse. Work with analysts and business SMEs to ensure that the right data resources are created for self-serve reporting and analytics in Tableau, as well as other tools. Telecommuting permitted.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience as a database developer, systems analyst, or related occupation. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept seven (7) years of experience as a database developer, systems analyst, or related occupation. Experience must include:

- Five years of experience building ETL processes (extract, transform and load) with SQL Development and administration, SSIS (Integration Services), and SSRS (Reporting Services).
- Two years of experience using BIML Studio to dynamically generate Integration Services packages (SSIS) to transform data from transactional system to Analytical system.
- Five years of experience using Erwin data modeling tools to design data warehouse.
- Three years of experience in insurance product design and IBM's Insurance Information Warehouse (IIW) data model for Auto and Property lines of business.
- Five years of experience using Visual Studio to maintain the codebase and version history.
Experience may be gained concurrently. Any suitable combination of education, experience, or training is acceptable, as are foreign equivalent degrees.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Wage Range: $185,058 - $225,175
- Regular part-time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and regular full-time PEMCO employees are eligible to elect coverage under medical, dental, and vision plans for themselves and their eligible family members with generous employer premium cost shares. - Vacation accrues at a rate of 10 days for new hires, and increases based on a schedule to a maximum annual accrual of 25 days based on tenure.
- Granted four (4) personal days immediately upon hire.
- Paid holidays for the eight (8) holidays observed by PEMCO throughout the calendar year.
- Granted up to ten (10) days of sick leave immediately upon hire (pro-rated based on hire date and full-time/part-time status), which is approximately 28 hours more per year than the Washington state-required accrual.
