Overview
Responsible for the overall operations of the clinical ops department, including development of the annual strategic plan for the department. Direct supervision of the manager of clinical operations and manager of clinical education. Responsible for Administrative On-Call assignments, which include, but are not limited to, providing direction according to United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) policy, standards and Conditions for Coverage respectively. The Director of Clinical Operations will participate in Administrative On-Call duties and will self-insert as needed. Works collaboratively with the OPO Medical Director regarding the medical management of the organ donor, and evaluation/placement of organs for transplant according to UNOS policy. Responsible for assuring that all standards and regulations required by CMS, AOPO, AHCA and UNOS are met. Responsible as the clinical point person during all state and federal surveys. Responsible for attending all UNOS meetings and keeping the associate and executive director informed of any national policy proposals and changes. Works closely with the transplant physicians and surgeons in the service area to build and sustain relationships in order to maximize donor management and transplantation outcomes. Leads the Administrative on-call staff to assure compliance with organ donor regulations on both the state and federal levels. Responsible for quality assessment performance improvement of clinical operations.
Qualifications
Minimum education and experience requirements:
Previous experience as a Director of Clinical Operations, Procurement Director, Manager of Clinical Operations, Manager of Clinical Education, or Advanced Practice Coordinator in an organ procurement organization, or graduate of an ARNP, RN, PA or RT program with 5 years clinical experience in an organ procurement organization. CPTC certification required. Master's degree advantageous. Must demonstrate knowledge or experience with policy, procedure, and regulatory issues governing organ procurement. Experience with training standards for new organ procurement coordinators and administrator on call duties strongly preferred.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver'
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
If registered nurse or physician's assistant--current RN or PA license in the State of Florida. Certified procurement transplant coordinator required. ACLS preferred.
