Electrical Controls Engineering Manager

Dessert Holdings is looking for an Electrical Controls Engineering Manager to join our team Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering and partnering with Plant Management, this individual will provide technical and professional leadership in reliability engineering and project management for food manufacturing facilities. This will include facilitating skills development at our facilities, supporting the obsolescence strategy for ageing assets, identification of capital investments for sustainment, growth, and cost savings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Electrical Controls and Instrumentation for equipment automation to IT/OT interface.


  • Support the execution of capital projects from concept to commissioning, qualification, and verification.


  • Support the capital plan using risk-based prioritization and ROI/business cases including studies, proposals, estimates, technical reports, capital required, and cash flow.


  • Engage in procurement activities including award of contracts and purchase order confirmation.


  • Manage and coordinate delivery of goods and equipment, as well as the activities of consultants, design engineers, installation and commission technicians, and other external services.


  • Acquire, create, and maintain technical documentation and support the development of detailed sanitation, operations, and maintenance plans including troubleshooting guides.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree required; preferably in Electrical Control and Instrumentation or Automation Engineering


  • At least 5+ years of experience leading engineering projects, and proven project management experience


  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving with creative solutions


  • Business acumen to assess implications of decisions, work alignment, and strategic goals


  • Ability to prioritize and plan activities, set goals, meet timelines and objectives


  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate with engineers, construction personnel, project managers, clients, and executives.


  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, Gantt, PowerPoint


  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles such as Six Sigma and Lean


  • Ability to travel up to 75% within North America
