A Day in the life

A day in the life of an Accounting Manager is centered around leading corporate accounting operations while ensuring accuracy and compliance. You'll manage and mentor a team of 4+ accounting professionals, overseeing the monthly close process to ensure the ledger aligns with GAAP and company guidelines. Maintaining the ERP system and internal controls is a critical part of your day as you review financial statements, trial balances, reconciliations, and other reports to ensure they are consistently accurate and complete. You'll also communicate with corporate and division leadership as needed, participate in audits, and resolve any issues that arise while seeking opportunities for process improvement. Through your leadership and attention to detail, you contribute to the company's financial success and uphold Stanley Martin's mission, vision, and values.

The ideal Accounting Manager candidate is a self-starter, organized and detail-oriented, with a positive, customer-focused attitude. They have great leadership skills and the ability to work cross-functionally to accomplish company goals. Being able to thrive in a high-volume environment while communicating clearly and building strong relationships is imperative to the success of this role.

Must Haves
  • At least 7 years of accounting/reporting experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic, including a commitment to safeguarding confidential information
  • Excited to collaborate in a team environment
  • Exudes active listening, confidence, and respect when communicating with others

Nice to Haves
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA
