Position Summary
As a Senior Benefits Analyst at Oncor, you'll manage benefit programs, projects, and vendor relationships to support the strategic priorities of Oncor. This role assures benefit plans and programs are administered in compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements. This individual will lead and manage the work of external consultants and key content experts to meet project goals and corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement, administer and oversee the administration of benefits programs including company pension, 401(k), and retiree health benefit plans.
- Ensure compliance with applicable benefits and tax legislation.
- Review plan documentation to ensure the information is current and accurate.
- Develops and maintains administrative procedures regarding company's retirement and savings plans.
- Utilize and analyze available data to evaluate benefit program metrics.
- Provide comprehensive analytical support for employee benefit programs including retirement plans and savings plans including preparing reports for management on the status of pension activities.
- Partner with other departments such as Finance, Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, Information Technology (IT), etc. as well as external vendors (Record-keeper, External Audits, Actuaries) In particular focus on interfaces and process improvements across departments.
- Ensure consistency in plan administration and regulatory compliance, including the preparation and mailing of Summary Annual Report (SARs), Summary of Material Modification (SMMs) and 5500s.
- Develop complex spreadsheets to ensure accurate administration of company retirement and 401K plans.
- Oversee the activities of the benefit vendors to ensure action items are completed.
- Develop work processes to monitor vendor systems to ensure data accuracy.
- Develop reconciliation processes to ensure accurate financial data of benefit plans.
- Provide information for annual audits (internal and external) that include audit planning, detailed audit procedures, related testing and reporting in accordance with professional and departmental standards Provide education, coaching, and training on all matters relating to benefit plans to participants.
- Reconcile benefits accounts and the billing process.
- Act as a point of contact for escalations pertaining to complex benefit matters.
- Oversee data gathering and research on moderate to complex assignments and projects.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
- Oversee the activities of the retirement seminars to ensure that all documentation is up-to-date as well as confirming attendees and speakers.
- Collaborate with the health and welfare group during annual enrollment and provide guidance related to the health savings account.
- Reconcile contributions for the health savings plan on a monthly basis.
- Partner with external vendors to organize events for annual enrollment.
- Provide an overview of the benefits programs related to pension, 401(k) and health savings plan for oncoming employees at orientation.
- Occasional long, irregular hours.
- Use of a PC, computer terminal and/or telephone over 6 hours a day.
- Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and/or reaching to access job-related materials.
- Open workspace office environment.
- Occasional travel to other Oncor locations and workshops.
- Additional projects as necessary.
Skills:
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize complex data, prepare reports and make recommendations to management based on results of analysis.
- Ability to establish evaluation criteria for vendors; and monitor and audit contracts and vendors for compliance.
- Proficient in word processing, database and spreadsheet applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
- Demonstrated project management, communication, problem analysis, and consultation skills.
- Subject matter professional in benefit compliance: Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Department of Labor (DOL), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), etc. with the ability to conduct appropriate analysis of cost impact of benefit programs.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and 5+ years progressively responsible experience in direct design, implementation, and administration of defined benefit and defined contribution benefits programs with a full understanding of benefit plans such as 401(K) and ERISA required.
- Applicants with Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field are encouraged to apply.
