General Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Scientist to lead the development, validation, and execution of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) capabilities. This individual will play a key role in advancing our genomic analysis platforms to support clinical biomarker and translational research. The ideal candidate has in-depth technical expertise in NGS technologies and a strong background in molecular biology and bioinformatics, coupled with proven leadership in method development and scientific innovation in a clinical biomarker laboratory setting.

PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience (or MS with 5+ years).

Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $180,800.00 annually

Essential Functions of the job:
- Drive the strategic design and implementation of new NGS workflows, including sample preparation, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis pipelines.
- Develop and validate NGS-based assays in compliance with internal quality standards and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee and execute NGS-based clinical sample analysis for various applications (e.g., whole genome/exome sequencing, RNA-seq, cfDNA, targeted panels).
- Author and review method development and validation protocols, reports, and SOPs.
- Ensure quality control, data integrity, and timely delivery of analytical results.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics, clinical biomarker and operations, quality, and portfolio management teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
- Maintain accurate lab records and mentor junior scientists.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This role is initially an individual contributor. May supervise lab scientists as the team grows.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in general software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, Zoom, Teams as well as NGS task-related systems.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in NGS platforms (e.g., Illumina, MGI) and associated wet-lab techniques.
- Hands-on experience in method development, validation and clinical sample analysis for NGS-based assays including but not limited to targeted panels, RNA-seq, cfDNA, single cell sequencing etc.
- Strong understanding of bioinformatics pipelines and data analysis principles.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically.
- Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
- Experience in lab automation, electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), laboratory information management system (LIMS) and initial lab workflow set-up is a plus.
