Job Description:
Caterpillar is seeking a Configuration Design Engineer - Off-Highway Trucks in Decatur, IL. In this role, you will report to the Current Production Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for overseeing concepts, architects and integrates new products, components, or technologies. As a member of the Off-highway Truck Engineering team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Researching and developing design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications of new products and components.
Guiding the evolution of the technical design, technical project planning, performance analysis, and development testing. Participating in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.
Monitoring, exploring, and testing new technologies, materials, and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities.

Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects.
Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
Product Design - MFG:
Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.
Collects and analyzes customer and market requirements, and generates reports.
Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model.
Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product design.
Product Design and Development:
Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
Communicates with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.
Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
Assists in building a complex prototype of product.

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
