As an Associate Quality Manager Incoming & Metrology, you will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials and components meet Tesla's quality and technical requirements. You will lead a team of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and inspectors to verify that all parts and components are manufactured to specifications, and that the inspection and testing processes are efficient and effective.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and inspectors to ensure that all incoming materials and components meet Tesla's quality and technical requirements, and to verify that all parts and components are manufactured to specifications
- Develop and implement quality control plans for incoming materials and components, including sampling plans, inspection procedures, and testing protocols, using knowledge of quality management systems including ISO 9001 and 17025
- Manage the metrology lab, operating according to best practices and international standards, and provide technical training and guidance on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to team members
- Improve lab operations and processes, including planning staffing, equipment needs, and continuous improvement and training, and design and implement automated and manual data collection processes to support measurement and inspection activities
- Provide dimensional expertise to support improvement projects (cycle time, efficiency, safety, etc.), and analyze and break down dimensional data to identify the source of problems (Sub-assembly, Tooling, Supplier part, etc.)
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address quality issues and prevent future occurrences, using techniques such as GD&T, tolerance analysis and statistical process control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, supplier, manufacturing, and quality engineers, to resolve quality issues and improve overall product quality, using software such as CAD design software (e.g. CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks), 3D modeling software (e.g. Polyworks, Geomagic), and statistical analysis software
- Ensure that all measurement equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and that all measurement data is accurate and reliable
- Develop and implement strategies to improve incoming quality, including inspection and testing procedures, and collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and improve overall quality performance
- Provide leadership and guidance to metrology technicians and quality engineers, including training and development opportunities, and ensure that all personnel are competent in the use of measurement tools and software
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in quality control, inspection, and testing, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on incoming quality and dimensional inspection
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, metrology, and quality management principles, including ISO 9001 and 17025
- Experience with measurement tools, including CMMs, 3D scanning systems, and measurement software from providers like Hexagon, Zeiss, Mahr, GOM, Faro and Leica
- Familiarity with software packages used for metrology, including Polyworks, GOM Inspect, CM4D as well as CAD systems
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of engineers, supervisors, technicians and inspectors
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and sampling inspection, and familiarity with standard quality tools like APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Capability Studies and Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and tight deadlines and to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Certification in quality management or metrology, such as CQE or CMQ/OE is preferred

$86,400 - $156,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
