Caterpillar Inc. seeks Control System Senior Engineer at its facility located at 10203 Sam Houston Park Drive, Houston, TX 77064.
Job Duties: Direct and ensure the proper concept, design, and development of Caterpillar Marine propulsion control solutions and software. Develop and manage projects to the plan. Gather and understand application requirements and translate them into technical requirements. Design and develop product components. Organize and manage testing of products. Ensure product deficiencies are addressed. Drive product improvements in the areas of: performance, robustness, usability, field deployment, and collection of diagnostics information. Ensure organization's processes and procedures are followed. Troubleshoot system malfunctions to restore normal function. Support application teams in software and systems troubleshooting. Responsible for providing subject matter expert support to engineers on site. Develop Electromechanical Control Systems using quantitative methods to solve problems for internal and external Caterpillar customers through integrating mechanical and electronic components and systems through control algorithm implementation and optimization using data from sensors, on-board models, and product analytics. Direct and participate in the concept and design of complex engineering product or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Contribute to the planning and delivery of projects. Contribute to the concept, development, and design of complex components, systems, subsystems, or processes. Perform complex analysis work, identify design problems, and resolve problems. Focus on technical delivery. Work directly with different units, suppliers, customers, and/or other teams. Communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions may affect the project team and delivery of projects. Decisions may significantly impact negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales, and customer perception. Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and a mastery of control system engineering concepts. Meet goals for cost, reliability, and performance, and managing multiple priorities. Must keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as projects progress, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on projects to less experienced engineers, technologists, and technicians. Bear significant responsibility for completion of projects with major focus on delivery.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor's, degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Four (4) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, or related occupation in embedded software development. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Hardware in the loop testing of embedded control systems including Engine, display, and marine propulsion control systems; (2) Design Hardware in the loop plant model using Matlab / Simulink; (3) Hardware in the loop system configuration using Dspace Control Desk; (4) Hardware in the loop test bench design for multiple subsystems in the marine system; (5) Software verification on Hardware in the loop testbench of electronic subsystems for marine applications (Ex: Engine, Marine Display, Marine Propulsion Control systems, etc.); (6) Software validation on production hardware (Ex: Engine, Marine Display, Marine Propulsion Control systems etc.); (7) CCP and CAN tools (Ex: CANape, CANoe, CANalyzer); and (8) Datalink protocols, specifically CAN, J1939, Ethernet, and NMEA.
Telecommuting: 40% Telecommuting Allowed.
Summary Pay Range:
$120,994.00 - $165,840.00
