The Sr. Manager of Conveyor and Material Handling is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and deploying strategic conveyor, sortation, and automation investments within our distribution operations. This role is responsible for managing large-scale sortation systems, mechanized assets, and modern automation critical to daily operations performance and execution. The Sr. Manager of Conveyance and Material Handling will work closely with Supply Chain IT, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and Finance. This role is responsible for warehouse management systems and integrations driven by warehouse execution and control platforms. This role is the relationship manager to key supply chain vendor partners, driving long-term value from investments deployed and serving as a conduit to ensure operational strategies are aligned with equipment performance output and future capital spending planned for subsequent assets. This role is essential to realize plans and implement successful solutions requiring strong partnerships with field maintenance teams, regional maintenance managers, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishes a long-term investment roadmap to drive best-in-class sortation and conveyance solutions, including capital deployments needed to modernize, sustain, and improve existing material handling solution designs.
  • Manages strategic partnerships with integrator partners and equipment manufacturers representing key vendors whose systems drive product flow and throughput deliverables within our distribution and fulfillment portfolio (Ex: Honeywell, Dematic, Crown, Raymond, Yale, Daifuku, TGW).
  • Develops and establishes long-term support maintenance standards, preventative maintenance programming, equipment upgrades, rebuilds, and new automation solution support (Automated Retrieval, Robotics, Controls).
  • Drives SLA expectations, support agreements, performance management standards, and staffing models with strategic material handling partners to support internal execution goals and performance objectives.
  • Provides support and project planning leadership to regional maintenance managers and onsite maintenance teams on integrator-led capital deployments and other mechanization deployments that drive system solutions.
  • Manages strategic RTB capital planning (Planning, Budgeting, Forecast, Ops coordination) for conveyor improvements, material handling purchases, large-scale preventative maintenance investments.
  • Owns overall program management for delivering clear direction, timing, forecasting, and operations coordination related to budgeted investments and planned deployment activities.
  • Maintains Capital Asset Inventory that includes a Material Handling Vehicle Fleet, critical maintenance spare parts, and valuable building infrastructure items.
  • Establishes key operational partnerships with DC Operations teams and develops feedback and intake for teams to share opportunities, new automation ideas and improvements, and focus items that need to be prioritized.
  • This position manages/supervises people.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Industrial / Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and 8-10 Years Subject matter expert with significant experience working in a maintenance capacity managing automated material handling systems, MHE vehicle fleets, driving preventative maintenance programs
  • 5-7 Years Capital investment planning, budgeting, and forecasting execution in concert with company annual operating plans.
  • 5-7 Years Business case analysis experience to justify capital investment roadmap supported through ROI analyses including IRR, Payback, cash flow considerations.
  • 5-7 Years Mechanical experience on Conveyor systems, MHE vehicles and equipment, and implementing preventative maintenance actions in support of a faced-paced, progressive distribution environment.
  • 5-7 Years Strong operational understanding of warehouse management systems and integrations driven by warehouse execution and control platforms.
  • 3-5 Years Managing a team of direct or indirect reports
