The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and developing a team of 10-12 professionals across multiple sites in all purchasing functions including sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and obtaining goods and services. The Purchasing Manager will communicate, manage, and prioritize purchasing activities as required, will ensure data integrity and compliance, as well as be involved in supplier relationship management programs. This role will require strong focus and leadership in team development and performance, cost savings initiatives, cross functional collaboration, and continuous improvement projects. This role will report to the Director of Procurement.

The compensation for this role is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications. The anticipated range is $95,000 - $125,000.

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and developing a team of 10-12 professionals across multiple sites in all purchasing functions including sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and obtaining goods and services. The Purchasing Manager will communicate, manage, and prioritize purchasing activities as required, will ensure data integrity and compliance, as well as be involved in supplier relationship management programs. This role will require strong focus and leadership in team development and performance, cost savings initiatives, cross functional collaboration, and continuous improvement projects. This role will report to the Director of Procurement.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for hiring, training, and managing a team of professionals, including coaching, skill development, and performance reviews. Ensure frequent and clear communication through 1:1's, Staff Meetings, and as-needed ad hoc forums.
- Serve as the point of escalation for direct reports when issues arise that require additional support or decision-making.
- Identify, lead, and/or mentor team members in sourcing initiatives resulting in cost savings, supplier performance and capability improvements, supplier consolidation, and/or risk management mitigation. Track and present results.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to inform sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with Category Managers to align on strategic sourcing strategies. Lead direct reports in championing and executing changes at multiple locations.
- Manage supplier relationships, drive ongoing supplier performance initiatives, and contribute to supplier management programs.
- Collaborating with Supplier Quality, establish preferred supplier selection criteria. Select preferred suppliers and drive utilization by deploying tools that support visibility, compliance, and ease of access.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and other innovations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement function across multiple sites. Benchmark best practices, map existing business processes, improve, and standardize. Create work instructions and document SOPs in the QMS system.
- Initiate, develop, and lead Procurement Tier 1/VS meetings, including creating, updating, and implementing appropriate KPIs to measure team and supplier performance, project status, spend, costing savings initiatives, etc.
- Create a visual Procurement Dashboard in Power BI.
- Lead purchasing team involvement in standard cost improvement project for purchased parts, including master data cleanup and maintenance activities. Update standard cost estimates on an annual basis and develop a robust, efficient PPV reporting methodology.
- Support testing, training and change management as required by changes to existing software, implementation of new software systems, system integration across sites, and automation initiatives for improved efficiency and functionality.
- Review and approve purchase orders and new supplier requests while maintaining compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Support internal and external audits for the purchasing function.
- Drive implementation and execution of the broader Procurement vision, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or similar relevant field.
- 10+ years purchasing experience in manufacturing medical devices or in another highly regulated industry.
- Proven successful experience in leading teams across multiple locations.
- Broad purchasing experience in direct materials and indirect goods and services throughout product lifecycle stages of R&D, Development, and Production.
- Strong sourcing, negotiation and contracting skills.
- Strong ERP system experience with proven experiencing integrating MRP systems across multiple locations.
- Experience implementing and managing supplier managed inventory programs.
- Data analytics, supplier segmentation, project management, and prioritization skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as ERP systems, QMS and Change Control software systems. Power BI experience desired.
- Strong collaboration skills and knowledge of Lean / OpEx concepts.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and follow-up.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, navigate ambiguity, and successfully manage changing priorities.
- Overnight travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epicor experience.
- Power BI experience.
- CPSM, CPIM or other relevant industry certification.
