About the Role
Alside, a $1.2B private equity--owned building products distributor, is seeking a bold, results-oriented Director of Marketing to drive fast, measurable revenue growth and commercial excellence. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this senior leader will build and scale a high-performing marketing organization that delivers demand generation, brand elevation, sales enablement, supplier co-marketing, and data-driven performance -- all aligned to our business objective: maximize enterprise value in the next 12 months.

About the Role
Alside, a $1.2B private equity--owned building products distributor, is seeking a bold, results-oriented Director of Marketing to drive fast, measurable revenue growth and commercial excellence. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this senior leader will build and scale a high-performing marketing organization that delivers demand generation, brand elevation, sales enablement, supplier co-marketing, and data-driven performance -- all aligned to our business objective: maximize enterprise value in the next 12 months.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Marketing Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and own the company's marketing strategy in partnership with the CCO, aligned to aggressive commercial goals and private equity milestones.
- Build and lead a modern, agile marketing team that can execute at speed.
- Establish scalable processes, talent structure, and metrics to fuel long-term growth while delivering immediate impact.
Demand Generation & Campaign Performance
- Architect and oversee multi-channel campaigns to acquire new customers, win back former accounts, and grow share of wallet among existing customers.
- Own the demand funnel: from brand awareness to MQLs to sales conversion and customer retention.
- Implement test-and-learn programs across email, digital, social, web, events, and direct marketing.
Sales Enablement & Internal Activation
- Partner with sales leadership to develop tools, collateral, training, and internal campaigns that empower field teams to close faster and smarter.
- Ensure all sales reps are armed with timely, relevant materials tied to current campaigns and promotions.
Brand & Messaging Ownership
- Define and uphold a cohesive, compelling brand identity that communicates our value clearly across every channel.
- Evolve our positioning and storytelling to stand out in a crowded, often commoditized category.
Supplier & Channel Co-Marketing
- Lead co-branded marketing efforts with supplier partners to drive mutual revenue growth and optimize MDF/co-op utilization.
- Manage vendor relationships, agency partners, and creative resources to bring campaigns to life efficiently and on-brand.
Go-to-Market & Product Marketing
- Develop launch strategies for new products, services, and customer programs in partnership with Product and Sales.
- Own value proposition development, competitive differentiation, and messaging hierarchy.
Marketing Tech, Website & Digital Experience
- Own the company website -- including content strategy, SEO, conversion optimization, user experience, and vendor/agency management.
- Oversee website updates, product/service pages, campaign landing pages, and tools to support lead generation and customer engagement.
- Ensure the website reflects the company's brand, supports the customer journey, and integrates with other digital marketing systems (e.g., Marketing Cloud, CRM, analytics).
- Lead digital experience strategy and performance monitoring (traffic, bounce rate, form fills, etc.).
Analytics, Reporting & Budget Accountability
- Define and own marketing KPIs including MQLs, SQLs, CAC, pipeline contribution, campaign ROI, and revenue impact.
- Lead regular performance reporting to the CCO and senior leadership team.
- Manage the marketing budget with discipline, focusing investment on highest-ROI activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 10+ years of B2B marketing leadership experience, ideally in distribution, manufacturing, building products, or industrial sectors.
- Proven success scaling marketing in high-growth, transformation-focused, or private equity--backed companies.
- Deep expertise in demand generation, website strategy, and sales enablement.
- Hands-on experience managing B2B websites (in partnership with internal resources or external agencies) with a strong focus on SEO, UX, and conversion rate optimization.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and leading high-performance teams.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and modern MarTech stacks.
- Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience marketing to contractors, builders, and dealers through distribution channels.
- Success managing supplier-funded marketing programs or MDF/co-op budgets.
- Familiarity with commercial organizations in transition (turnaround, merger, PE-backed transformation).
- Data-driven with a passion for measurable, repeatable growth.
