Position Summary
Research biological processes and plan new processes and techniques to develop and scale sustainable chemicals derived from biological sources. Design microbial fermentation experiments and analyze and present fermentation data. Research and analyze the impact of biochemical principles-such as fermentation, analytical, strain engineering, downstream processing, and systems bioengineering-on the development of fermentation-based bioprocesses. May perform additional duties that are similar and consistent with stated position requirements.
Qualified candidates must possess a doctor of engineering degree (or a foreign degree that is equivalent to a U.S. doctor of engineering degree) plus 2 years of experience. Employer will accept paid or unpaid experience gained during university studies. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
Designing industrial biobased processes, including upstream and downstream processing
Scaling up and scaling down biotechnical processes from lab to manufacturing scale
Developing and optimizing validation of small-scale fermentation and purification processes
Coordinating technology transfer campaigns with Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) partners
Salary: $133,240 to $140,400
